While a chin strap is not necessary after Kybella, some patients feel that the gentle pressure it exerts makes them feel more comfortable and helps to resolve some of the postprocedural swelling. I tend to be conservative when administering Kybella because I don’t want my patients to be swollen for more than 5 to 7 days. Thus, most of them choose not to use chin straps and simply manage the swelling with ice packs. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist will allow you to talk about what’s worked best for his or her patients and decide if a chin strap would beneficial.
Thank you for your question. I see no harm in wearing an elastic chin strap after Kybella treatments. In fact I recommend it to all of my patients. Kybella causes a significant inflammatory reaction in the subcutaneous fat where it is injected which results in swelling. I advise my patients to ice the treated area for 24-48 hrs after treatment and to wear the chin strap at home in the evening and when sleeping for the first two nights after treatment. When these instructions are followed most patients have minimal swelling by the second day after treatment. Be sure to consult with a qualified and experienced board certified injector to help you achieve optimal results. Best of luck!Dr. Max Polo
By chin strap, I think you mean a soft neoprene like chin strap like we use after liposuction of the chin. If that is what you mean, I don't think there is any harm is wearing a chin strap. I just want to be sure we are not talking about a tight chin strap that goes on a helmet or something like that which could leave a dent in the swollen chin if it is worn too long.
I don't recommend the chin strap because the extra pressure might be unpleasant. It won't harm your final results and might keep the swelling down.Good luck, Dr. ALDO
I normally do not have patients wear a compression garment around the neck after Kybella, but there is no harm in doing so. It would be fine to wear a chin strap if you wish.
Although I do not typically prescribe any neck band after Kybella, I do not think it would hurt as long as it is not too tight. I think that there are potential harms associated with a tight neck band, as it can give you a demarcation (line) at the margin of the strap where the compressed skin (under the strap) contrasts with the uncompressed skin (outside the strap). Though this usually self corrects, it is better to avoid this than to give rise to a complication that is not necessary. Good luck!
Soft, even compression is great to assist with lymphatic drainage and swelling reduction. If the strap does not cover evenly, it could cause an uneven look. We discuss post Kybella massage and provide post Radiofrequency therapy. Learn more at cosmeticsurgery.cc
No harm wearing a chin strap. One of our patients used an ice pack inside the chin strap the night she got the Kybella and did not get any swelling or pain at all. So if you are comfortable with a little you can try it.
"Injecting soft fillers like Belotero in this area can reduce lines, wrinkles and folds as well as improve skin texture with long-term collagen production. Fillers are being used more frequently to contour and lift rather than solely line fill. Of course, fillers are best used in combination...
Thank you for the question. I think that it should be fine that you have Kybella while on antibiotics, as the two treatments should not interfere with one another. That said, I do not like doing elective, cosmetic procedures or injectables in anyone that has any form of...
Thank you for the question! The fat is dissolved within 10-15 minutes of the injection, however an inflammatory response is induced that causes swelling that takes approximately 3-4 weeks to subside. The bruising and redness tend to be minor and easily covered by makeup. Some patients...
