The question is really 'is there a difference between Mentor regular versus Mentor Xtra implants?' (they both come in the same profiles like moderate plus). Mentor Xtra are there version of Natrelle's Inspira line of 'optimally filled' implants. Unfortunately, Mentor took it too far and their Xtra line is so overfilled that they have traction ripples even when lying flat on a table top. Unfortunately, until Mentor puts more cohesive gel into their round implants (like they have in their shaped ones), they are no longer a modern high performance device like Sientra Implants.
Great question.Xtra is a newer design which makes the breasts more perky and shapely. The do not feel firmer in my opinion. I prefer Xtra over the older design from Mentor like the moderate plus Memory Gel. It's just a new and better designed device. Thank you fir your question. The main difference with the "Extra" line of Mentor implants is a so-called "overfill" of the gel in relation to the envelope of "bag" of the implant, making them less likely to ripple. This is especially tru in very thin patients, or in patients who are undergoing breast reconstruction wherein their implant is literally substituting for their breast. If you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon, he or she can review the different implant types and literally allow you to hold them in your hadn't so that you can judge the difference for yourself. The differences are subtle, and highly unlikely to be detected by you once they are in place after surgery. Best of luck to you.
In many women, the Xtra are too high and do look fake. I would suggest meeting with a board certified plastic surgeon, being measured and examined, and trying on the range of sizes that best fits your frame and tissue. Your surgeon can also guide you to the proper profile. Implants that are too high also place more stress on your tissue and thins your tissue over time, and then look even more fake.
The silicone is better in the XTRA. Ultras have older silicone cohesivenes and is too soft for lots of patients. The XTRA breast implants have a perkier feel and create better breast shape. Ultras are too pointy. Let us know if we can help with achieving your breast augmentation and check out...
Your will definitely notice the size and feel the weight with 475 cc implants. Please discuss any concerns you have with your surgeon. If need, go back and try on the sizes again.
Based on your photo and measurements it appears that your breast bone (sternum) is wide (muscles are far apart)so there will be a gap between the breasts when you are not wearing a bra. A larger implant will not help this very much. As long as the breasts have a soft capsule they should look not...
