It may take six to twelve months to appreciate the results of a hair transplant surgery. If you are concerned it is best to contact your doctor.
After 8 months of your operation is a good time to take supplements like minoxidil and finasteride. You can concider those medicine as an alternative.
Not all hair transplantation methods are the same, as they can vary based on how the hair follicles are extracted and implanted. For patients who choose to undergo hair transplantation, we always recommend a comprehensive treatment plan which can include light therapy, topical (shampoo/serums) and sometimes oral medication as well. The final result of a transplant can be affected by the immediate transplant events/care and some patients require additional transplantation to achieve the result they are looking for. I would recommend making a follow up appointment with your provider to discuss your concerns. Best of luck!
At 8 months you should have the majority of your growth. Looking at your photos, the scalp tattoos seem less visible in the postop vs. preop photos so there may have been some growth. At this point, it's time to visit your surgeon, review the standardized preoperative photos and discuss your concerns. You should also consider and discuss (if you haven't already) non-surgical adjunctive therapy such as minoxidil (Rogaine), finasteride (Propecia), platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and laser therapy to maintain your hair and prevent further loss.
It generally takes about 12 to 15 months to get the final results after hair transplant. The transplanted hair will initially become dormant and then regrow in a miniaturized state prior to the final (normal thickness) growth stage. It is very common to feel frustrated at this time (8 months out). You may want to consider Platelet Rich Plasma Injection therapy (with or without ACell) to stimulated further growth/improve miniaturization or allow about 4 to 6 more months for the hair to thicken up. Laser light therapy with red laser light may be beneficial as well.
No one ever gets back their normal density. The questionthat should be answered is did you meet the expectations that you are yourdoctor set at the time of the surgery. Go back and meet with your surgeon ifyou are unhappy
