6 weeks post op and my incision is leaking, do I need to see my doctor right away? (Photos)

I am 6 weeks post op from a tummy tuck. I have this area that is red and irritated. My surgeon is on vacation and has a PA filling in for him. I saw her yesterday and she told me to put vitamin e on it. Today it started oozing fluid. I have an appt to see her again on Tuesday. Am I ok to wait that long?

From what you are describing, it sounds like you may have a seroma (fluid collection) that is beginning to drain thru the opening.As long as you don't have any fevers or redness or pus draining from the area I would say it is ok to wait and not an emergency.  If you do start feeling ill or have any of the symptoms described then I would say it has now become an urgent situation and to seek medical care.Hope that helps.

Sorry to hear about the troubles with your scar. This most likely represents a seroma (collection of the body's normal fluids) under the skin edges, and it sounds like it is finding its way out through an opening on your scar line. Yes, this happens from time to time with tummy tuck. As long as you feel OK, no fevers, and the drainage is relatively clear, you can probably wait a few days for your surgeon---but, do call their office or head to medical care if things worsen.
