You will certainly be able to remove quite a bit of lower abdominal skin with an abdominoplasty - this is the area where your stretch marks (striae) are most significant. Upper abdominal stretch marks will not be totally removed. My best advice would be to meet with a plastic surgeon to discuss options and anticipated amount of skin removal. The tummy tuck should improve at least some of those stretch marks.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA.
Hello and thank you for your question. Based on yourphotograph, you are a great candidate for a tummy tuck with liposuction. This can be done through a low and shortincision, all completely below the bikini line. The belly button can be designed to look natural and have no scars onthe exterior. Your muscles can also beplicated resulting in a flat abdomen. All the stretch marks from your belly button to your pubic gone can be removed. Stretch marks above your belly button usually stay but are moved to a more favorable location near your pubis. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures ofreal patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluatetheir results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you arecomfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualifiedboard-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Reish, M.D.Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
