I have gaps in my donor area after FUE one month post op?

Question

One month post op after 500 graft FUE with 0.85mm punch, I have gaps in my hair where the follicles were removed. I don't think there is any hypopigmentation, fortunately, but the fact is my doctor told me there would no visible signs of FUE treatment when I shave my hair down. Its only been one month. Will things improve over the next year (i.e. will those gaps contract, or dormant hairs grow into those spaces)? I don't want SMP, but I need a solution. Would body hair transplant work?

There is no such thing as NO SCAR FUE.  You will always have gaps and little round areas of hypopigmentation after FUE when you shave your head.

500 is a small number of follicles to see a permanent visible difference.  You likely are experiencing shock loss which should subside in a few months.  PRP therapy may help.  Speak to your doctor about this versus just waiting.

Thank you for your question. Given the low number of grafts, I doubt the area was over-harvested. Without pictures it is difficult to say what is causing this. It is possible you have some shock loss that should fill in over the coming months to a year. This occurs in approximately 5% of hair transplant cases and can occur in either the donor or implant areas. I suggest following up with your transplant surgeon to determine the cause of the gaps on your donor area.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.

The follicles that are removed from the donor region will not grow back. They will now grow where they are transplanted

Of course, with shedding you will see many grafts until the new hair comes in somewhere betweem 4-6 months from now
