1.5 years post-op - Why does this lump keep coming and going? (Photos)

Question

I’m not sure what the lump is caused by but it comes and goes and I just want it to stay gone. Some days it’s more swollen than others, I’m already a year and a half post op and I have had a couple steriod injections which have seemed to help a little. Any ideas of what this is? I will add a photo where the lump is there and then another when it’s not.

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

It could be cartilaginous deformity or a cyst. If it is tender then it is an infected cyst. Try antibiotics and if it still persists then might need excision. If it is non tender then cartilage needs to be shaved under the skin.

You may be having an allergic reaction to the suture material used during the surgery, or a cartilage graft used under the skin for camouflage could have been overhealed and left in the form of swelling. if something is very uncomfortable, the issue can be resolved with the revision rinoplasty.
