Sleeping on my side after fully Tummy tuck?

I allow my tummy tuck patients to sleep on their side whenever they wish to, and I haven't encountered any problems. I do recommend to my patients that if they sleep on their side soon after their tummy tuck, that they sleep curled up in the "fetal position" to take tension off of their abdominal incision. At three weeks you may definitely sleep in whatever position is most comfortable for you. Thanks for sharing!

Congratulations on your surgery! At three weeks post op you should be able to sleep on your side, but it is always best to first check with your surgeon. He/She is most familiar with the details of your surgery and how you've been progressing through recovery.

You will need to check with your plastic surgeon's care team for clearance to sleep on your side.  I understand that it has been three weeks since your full tummy tuck, and while your healing may be progressing well on the skin's surface, you are in fact still healing on the inside.  Please make sure that you communicate all of your questions directly to your surgeon's office and be sure to follow their instructions so that you heal well with no complications.
