I am 24 years old. I have always has a large, wide forehead. However I have started to recede at the temples and hairline which makes my forehead disproportionate to my face. I hate it and it makes me very self conscious. As my hair is fine, it is difficult to style. I take finasteride which has stopped loss. But I want the width narrower from temple points and the hairline lowered by 1cm (it is currently 8.5 cm long from eyebrows). Will I be a suitable candidate and how many grafts would it be?
Answer: Hair transplant Thanks for your inquiry. When considering hair transplant surgery, it is very important to evaluate you, your age, your rate of hair loss, your donor hair density, the laxity of the back of the scalp and also very importantly your family history. You are very young and I'm glad to hear that you are on Finasteride. (Minoxidil is also beneficial in slowing the rate of hair loss). If you decide to proceed with hair grafts, you will need to be conservative. Currently the limitation to hair transplant surgery is the number of grafts you have to donate over your lifetime (how much hair you have in the donor site) compared to how much hair loss you have (and will eventually have) on the top of your head. If you have a family history of extensive hair loss, you are likely headed down that path as well (slowed of course by the medication). You need to keep that in mind when designing your surgery.

Answer: FUE Hair Transplant Thanks for the question. Based on your photos, the 1500-2000 grafts might be good option for you, but it would be wrong to say something for sure. You should see a board certified surgeon. You can then plan the process together and discuss the results. I wish you all the best.

Answer: Depends You need an exam by a doctor for an accurate recommendation. You also need the exam to make sure you do not have the potential for further hair loss or balding. Finasteride does not stop genetic balding.Numbers can range from 1500 to 2000 grafts depending on how extensive the work and your specific goals. (Maybe more. Maybe less)

Answer: Graft Number? Again, you are in the tricky situation of being young with significant hair loss. If someone corrects you completely and you continue balding (which is likely) then you will need further transplant sessions. This is okay if you continue to have good donor hair to transplant. My advise is if you do decide on transplant to go with a more conservative one. Then you can continue to bald and replace more naturally. Find a surgeon that you trust. Good luck.

Answer: How many grafts? Your hairline is quite high, unfortunately. Based on the length of your hair, I would probably suggest you consider the strip method, as the cost will be less and more grafts could be done at each session.Ideally, you would have two sessions of 2500 grafts to fully restore your hairline and create the necessary density.
