Hi all, hope you can help. Ever since I became a teenager I developed what appears to be a permanent frown where I forehead meets my nose. It's as if my forehead is resting on the top of it. I look at photos from when I was 9/10/11 and the bridge of my nose was much more 'normal' yet now it's as if I never had a procerus muscle. Can botox or surgery help this? Even when happy I look depressed, my eyes aren't half open & it's only if I forcefully raise my eyebrows (startled) that it goes away.
Answer: Botox horizontal crease Thank you for your question. Yes Botox will help soften that crease. I am not an advocate for fillers in the glabella area due to the potential risks, but if you do go that route or a combo approach with Botox, I advise you see an experienced provider and discuss with them the use of microcannulas as this will mitigate against some of the risks. As well, while the risk is low, please make sure they have a protocol in place for intravascular injection of filler and have the necessary items in their protocol (i.e.: nitropaste, aspirin, etc.) Dr. Beer had a good article on the protocol I will link below. Regards, Dr. Matthew J. Elias

Answer: Solutions for Horizontal Nose Crease You may consider a combination approach with Botox as well as a small amount of filler. Juvederm may be a good option for that area. You may also consider procedures that will lift and tighten the skin of the face without surgery such as Ultherapy. Hope this helps.
