For as long as I remember I've always had quite a prominent nose bump. I was thinking of having fillers in the top part above my nose to smooth out the curve... I can live with the size of my nose as it is, and also don't mind if it has a smaller bump on the bridge; I'm just wanting something done so the curvature isn't so harsh as you can see in my photo. What do you think? Any advice is truly appreciated.
Answer: Am I a candidate for non-surgical rhinoplasty? Non-surgical rhinoplasty is not the right option for you.It is true that you can soften or perhaps even straighten out a dorsal hump with careful placement of filler above and/or below. In your case this is the wrong idea. You have a prominent bony and cartilaginous hump based on the one profile view available.Filling above would make the nasofrontal angle much too shallow and give the appearance that the "take off" of the root of the nose basically starts at the brow and lower forehead. This would not be flattering for anyone.Traditional surgical rhinoplasty is without any doubt the most appropriate recommendation.I find myself talking people out of non-surgical rhinoplasty far more often than I end up doing it. It's just a matter of getting the right advice from a surgeon who knows what both of the techniques can and cannot accomplish.Good luck to you as you continue to consider your options.

Answer: Non Surgical Rhinoplasty Candidate, Yes or No? You are more of a candidate for a surgical repair. But non invasive approaches with fillers can be used to give some improvement but they will be very minimal. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Surgical rhinoplasty for dorsal hump removal Performing a non--surgical rhinoplasty is only temporary, is not FDA approved for that application, and can have significant complications such as skin necrosis. In addition, filling in the low radix would create an unnatural appearance with the nose starting at the level of the eyebrows. A surgical rhinoplasty can accomplish shaving down the dorsal hump which is composed of both bone and cartilage on a permanent basis. For many examples of dorsal hump removal, please see the link below

Answer: for a non-surgical rhinoplasty? Advice needed please. (Photo) You are not a candidate for non surgical rhinoplasty. This procedure has very limited applications and may be helpful to improve minor deformities of the nose. However, the results are temporary, expensive, and need to be repeated every 6 months which add up in costs. Adding a filler to your nose will simply make it appear larger and distorted. After 30 plus years performing this operation, my best advice is to see a surgeon very experienced in rhinoplasty who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.Richard Chaffoo, MD,FACS,FICSTriple Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
