I had Polytech 340cc Buttock implants Intramuscular 3 years ago after recovery period which was fairly uneventful I went back to everything I did before no problems. I wanted to go bigger I see Polytech do a 560cc buttock implant would that make a visible difference from a 340cc implant ? I do not have fat for a fat transfer. Would there be space intramuscular to accommodate a bigger implant as my first surgeon said I could only fit a 340cc implant. Thankyou
Answer: Buttock Implants yes, it will certainly make a difference you may run the risk of complications depending on your frame and if it can sustain such a large implants. Please be sure to choose a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in buttock implants and has a proven history of success with such a surgery.

Answer: Upsizing buttock implants There are multiple factors to consider when upsizing buttock implants. In your particular case, it would be very helpful to know the shape of your implants because if your implants round and you’re upsizing the diameter (from the 340 to the 560) and thus width of the implant, it may be too wide for the width of your gluteus muscle which would then make the implant bulge unnaturally out to the side and be very visible/palpable in the hip area. In this case it would be best to consider switching to an oval anatomic shaped implant such as the Stanton Anatomic buttock implant that can be custom-made to fit your exact dimensions but with more thickness (i.e. projection) to the implant compared to the implant you currently have. Especially when going larger, a Stanton Anatomic oval implant also looks much more natural when bending over. Glad to be of help.

Answer: Can I upsize from a 340cc to a 560cc Buttock Implant? Will it make a visible difference? The key to this surgery is to select an implant that is not so large that the muscle cannot cover it reliably. You want a nice result, but you want to avoid the complications (need for removal, infection, extrusion, fluid collection, implant migration, implant visibility, and capsular contracture among others). Studies have demonstrated that sizes above 350 cc have a greater rate of complications. You would need to be examined by a board certified PS to determine if your anatomy would accommodate a 560cc butt implant.

Answer: Upsizing gluteal implant I like breast implants gluteal implants are highly dependent on pelvic and gluteus muscle size. You need to be examined and measured by a board-certified plastic surgeon who has extensive experience with this procedure. Since everything went well with your first procedure I would highly recommend you contact your previous plastic surgeon and discuss options with him or her. With breast implants diameter of implant isn’t as important and there are more variables in regards to profile. With gluteal implants it’s key to not extend beyond the natural anatomic periphery of the implant space. Doing so puts patients at risk for significantly increased complications. Often complications with gluteal implants leads to implant failure and loss of implants. Since this procedure has a fairly high complication rate to start with staying on the conservative side is prudent. Follow up with your provider. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
