You clearly have done your research well and figured out that in fact you are definitely not a candidate for BBL, period.  Other than placing buttock implants within the gluteus muscles (aka “intramuscular”) NOT “subfascial”, the most important factors in creating the perfect derriere and/or hourglass figure with implants is indeed selecting the right size AND shape. I have found the best way to assure this is to simply measure the actual dimensions of the patient’s buttock cheeks and quantity and quality/density of the underlying gluteus muscles. With these anatomical measurements, I can select an implant that not only significantly augments the buttock but also supplies the correct 3-dimensional enhancement to look as real as possible...even in the most petite patients. Note, height and weight are considered but not nearly as relevant as the above measurements.Based purely upon your photos, you are just like 95+ % of the population in that you have much more of oval shaped buttock muscles, not round.  Hence, Stanton Anatomic buttock implants are likely to be a much more natural contoured (aka “anatomical”) fit. Round implants in someone like you often cause a unattractive gumdrop effect that is made even worse when squatting down or bending over. Glad to be of help.

Buttock implants placed within the muscle should be measured to fit your anatomic constraints. I place both round and oval implants in an intramuscular position with a preference for round implants if possible to improve projection, improve roundness and fullness laterally, and prevent rotational deformities associated with oval implants.  Oval implants may be more useful in some anatomic conformations.  
The size and placement of the implant has a lot to do with possible complications. The key to this surgery is to select an implant that is not so large that the muscle cannot cover it reliably. You want a nice result, but you want to avoid the complications (need for removal, infection, extrusion, fluid collection, implant migration, implant visibility, and capsular contracture among others). 
Studies have demonstrated that sizes above 350 cc have a greater rate of complications, but most women choose an implant volume in the 350cc to 400cc range.

Thank you for your question whether you would be a candidate for butt implants on a skinny girl. I would suggest you would be an excellent candidate for buttock augmentation with buttock implants. Buttock implants are ideally suited for patients who desire buttock augmentation and who lack fat for a BBL. Since you have no fat, I believe your best option would be buttock implants. I would suggest a round implant for a more natural appearance of your buttock. In my opinion, an anatomic buttock implant would make your buttock look to “bottom heavy”. In your case, I would also suggest a round buttock implant of around 400 cc for optimal sizing. Typically, I place my patient’s buttock implants inside the gluteus maximus muscle. Therefore, when I place buttock implants, the buttock implants are not on top of the muscle or underneath the muscle. Placing the buttock implant on top of the muscle has the risk of excursion through the incision, rejection and a potential for flipping. Placing the buttock implant under the muscle has a high risk of nerve impingement. Therefore, during buttock augmentation, I place the buttock implants inside the buttock muscle. Also the size of the buttock implant depends on what your body can tolerate. If your buttock skin is very tight, it may not be able to accommodate a 500 cc buttock implant.
