Drainage can occur from any lipouction access incision. I prefer to close them, seal them and then cover them over with a clear occlusive bandage so there is very rarely any drainage. Other surgeons prefer to keep the open. Just be careful with your bed and bedding.
It is normal to get a little bit of bloody discharge or clear discharge from a liposuction incision. Keep the area clean. You can use gauze pads to collect the fluid which will stop within a day or so. If the drainage is continuous or bright red contact your surgeon for instruction.
Hello and thank you for your question. Bleeding and serious damage is expected following liposuction and tummy tuck procedures. Some mild bleeding from your incisions can be expected only one day following your procedure, so a small amount of bleeding is no cause for concern. If you have any additional questions about your procedure or continue to bleed several days after your surgery, be sure to contact your board-certified plastic surgeon right away. Hope this helps!Michael Eisemann M.D.Plastic SurgeonHouston, Texas
Hello!Thank you for your question and congratulations on your recent surgery. It is common to get some drainage from liposuction access incisions after surgery. Often this is not straight blood, but usually a little blood mixed with the solution we put in prior to doing the liposuction. If you have alot of drainage; however, it's probably best to be evaluated by your surgeon. Best of luck!Dr Ford
janemillswithers Hi There , Thank You for Your Question Often all the solutions we used to liposuction prior to removing the fat , are the ones that will drain out with blood and all the lymphatic fluids , so it completely normal for it to drain blood mix with the solutions we used at the procedure , its only been two days so don't worry keep the caring of the incisions , follow all the Post Op indications and you will be fine .
Thank you for your question. You can hve some bleeding from the lipo incision holes but it should be very minimal. If it is a lot then pleas contact your surgeon. Best of luck
Some amount of drainage can be expected from a liposuction entry site ( if the entry site is not closed). Best to communicate your concerns/questions directly with your plastic surgeon who will be your best resource for accurate assessment, advice, and (probably) meaningful reassurance. Best wishes.
Dear Jane, thank you for your question. The liposuction process involves instilling a solution (tumescent) into the areas to be liposuctioned prior to removing the fat, which assists with fat removal, decreased blood loss, and decreases pain. It is normal for there to be drainage from the drain hole, and often even a small amount of blood mixed with the solution can look like significant bleeding. However, I would recommend that you contact the Plastic Surgeon who performed your procedure and seek evaluation by him/her as they deem necessary.
Many thanks for your question and congratulations on your tummy tuck.It is not uncommon to get fluid, including blood & bloodstained fluid leak out onto dressings. I personally do not use drains routinely as the evidence in the medical literature does not support their use.I would advise you get in touch with your board certified Plastic Surgeon and their team and arrange to see them for review and reassurance.I wish you luck and a smooth post-operative period and recovery.Best wishes,Marcus
Yes the area will heal with time. Your body will either absorb the suture or continue pushing it toward the surface where your surgeon can remove it. Continue to follow the advice of your plastic surgeon and keep all follow up appointments so the area can be monitored.
I advise my patients that they can swim in a pool or the ocean, or take a hot bath after six weeks. This is to minimize risk of infection. This may vary by surgeon though so it is best to ask yours for her/his opinion.
I know it's hard to be patient but you are very early in your recovery and can expect changes ahead. Skin puckering will typically flatten out as healing progresses and swelling resolves. This may take a few months. Be sure to discuss your concerns with your surgeon at your appointment.
