Glandular tissue left behind after gynaecomastia surgery, is a revision required? (photos)

If liposuction alone was done you may need to still have the breast tissue excised. However it is still too early to see your results. You should wait about 6 months before having revision surgery. good luck.

Thanks for your question.It is still too early to see whether you will need anymore surgery. It is always advisable in men to go for the least scarring option first to avoid scars around the nipple areolar complex. It may well be that ht eskin retracton is enough that this will give you the result you want. If it doesnt, then you can always have the tissue removed - you might find you dont need to.See your surgeon again to be reassured but generally you would not see much of a change till atleast 3-6 months from treatment. I hope this is reassuring for youBW

Only clinical examination can reveal the nature of the tissue that is causing the deformity (further need for scan possible as well). What you are palpating may just be scar tissue that takes a long time to resolve after an area has been treated with liposuction. If you do need some gland removed though it is a fairly straightforward surgery which you can discuss with a surgeon

Hi, it is still too early to make any judgments. Liposuction can sometimes be very effective at removing glandular tissue as well is the tissue is relatively soft. There are also more aggressive cannulas that can tackle tougher tissue.
It is not uncommon for fullness to be present at two weeks. This can be due to tissue fluid and blood with accumulates in the space where the removed tissue was. It hardens and gives the impression that nothing has been removed.
On the other hand, you might be right and it may be residual glandular tissue. Time will tell! I would wait at least 3-4 months. If you have not seen any significant improvement then you may well require a revision to remove the excess tissue.

Hi.  From the pictures that you provided, it is difficult to determine whether the fullness that is present behind the nipple is from normal post-operative swelling or from retained glandular tissue.  At only two weeks post-op, there can still definitely be some normal post-operative swelling so I don't feel that you are seeing the final result from your procedure.  I would recommend speaking with your surgeon about your concerns to see whether he feels that the fullness that is present is from swelling which will resolve over time or if there is still glandular tissue which might require additional excision in the future.  Best of Luck! 

Thank you for your question and sharing your pictures, Your liposuction results are great but the nipple projection is still there. It is advisable to wait for further two to three weeks to rule out any swelling. If it still persist you are advised to see your doctor, you may require a small revision to remove the gland that can easily be done in local anesthesia.
