Can I get lower ab repair only? (Photo)

Question

I had a hernia repair done laparoscopically and the surgeon stitched up the abdominal separation but only at my belly button. Since then, I feel like my lower belly bulges more than before. I don’t have excess skin under my belly button but I’m curious can a plastic surgeon go in via c section scar, repair the abdominals under the belly buttton and close back up without removing skin? These photos don’t even show the extent of how it protrudes. At the end of the day it’s farther out.

It is common to have abdominal laxity below the belly button after pregnancy. These muscles can be tightened with a small horizontal incision similar to a C-section scar. The scar can be very low and hidden and the muscles tightened back into place.

If there is a muscle separation (diastasis) in the lower abdomen and there are no issues with the upper abdomen, then a mini tummy tuck is the perfect choice. It could use your existing C-section scar, and possibly remove a small amount of skin if necessary.

Yes you can repair abdominal separation in the area below the belly button.  The incision will be larger than a c-section scar.  Skin does not need to be removed but in most cases it is recommended. Yes, it should be possible to use your old C-section scar and elevate the skin off the central portion of yourrectus abdominous muscles, and repair them from your belly button down to the top of your pubic bone. No skin needs to be removed unless you request it.  This should help to flatten your lower abdomen which address is your concern. Best wishes.
