Thank you very much for your question andcongratulations on your recent breast augmentation procedure. Hugs from familyand friends are fine, even at this early stage of recovery. However, theyshould be gentle, as you are more than likely still tender from surgery. Thesehugs are not going to damage your BA results. If you have any further concerns,I recommend reaching out to your operating surgeon for his/her advice.
Hello and thank you for your question. After having a breast augmentation it is very important to avoid direct pressure to the breasts. I generally tell my patients that they should refrain from receiving any direct manipulation to the breasts for at least one month after surgery. This allows for healing of the incision to occur without trauma to the breast tissue. As long as the hug you are receiving is not vigorous then there should not be a problem after one week of surgery.Hope this helps answer question.Alexander Zuriarrain, MD Cleveland Clinic Trained Plastic Surgeon
Hello,Thank you very much for sharing your concern with us and congratulations on your breast augmentation procedure. Patients who have undergone a BA operation are advised not to lift anything greater than 15 pounds during the first 4 weeks. Even though we suggest patients to start their moderate activity right after the procedure, you will need to pay attention to motions such as raising your arms up during the first days since they might have a negative effect on your incision wounds and general recovery.. Hugs from family at this early stage of recovery are acceptable for as long as you dont go for those tight bear hugs. An exaggerated pressure over the operated area may cause you more pain and also interfere with the right placement of your implants. A few gentle hugs are not going to damage your BA results. In any case, I would recommend you reaching out to your operating surgeon for a proper advice related to the specific case . Best regards, Ozge Egun M.D Aesthetic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon
Thank you for your question. Hugging is allowed but of course, you will not be up for a super tight bear hug due to soreness following your procedure. Post operative instructions do vary from one plastic surgeon to another. I do advise my patients not to lift anything greater than 15 pounds for 4 weeks. Best of luck.
Thank you for your question.Hugging after surgery is not limited. I would just use caution for the first 3 weeks to be gentle. Once you are past about 6 weeks, a bear hug should not cause any problems.
I advise my patients to take it easy for a week so as not to increase the chance of bleeding. In general you and the implants are not that fragile and should withstand a family and friends hug. When concerned, always a good idea to check with your surgeon.Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author
Blackwine. While I urge all my breast augmentation patients to refrain from any heavy lifting, cardio workouts or strong physical exertion for 4 weeks after surgery, gentle hugs (no bear hugs!) from your family should not be a problem. Check in with your plastic surgeon first with this regard. Best of luck.
four days is quite early for heavy hugs with a recent breast augmentation . I allow my patients work out and run at four weeks and swim or four weeks so that would be the earliest I would suggest having a heavy hug. You will probably be fine ,however if you develop bleeding you will regret the fact you let them hug you because you’d have to go surgery through surgery again.
Congratulations on your recent surgery. It is several weeks before your capsule forms well after surgery. Before then strenuous activity or bear hugs might increase your risks of bleeding. I tell my patients 3 to 4 weeks, but ask your surgeon!Best. Dr. Aldo
I guess everybody's version of a bear hug is different! I don't think you would do much harm, provided you do what is sensible and comfortable for you. But as always, best to ask your surgeon to double-check his/her preferences. Cheers!
Thank you very much for your question and congratulations on your recent breast augmentation. At eight weeks post-op, you are still in the early recovery stage. Swelling will take four to six months to resolve, sometimes up to a full year. It is common to find that one breast will soften and...
Yes, its definitely possible do both at the same time, through the same access incisions as your augmentation. Whether a general surgeon needs to be involved depends on the diagnosis, location of the lesion, and comfort level of your plastic surgeon with removing breast lesions...
For patients with a cardiac history, I would obtain clearance from their cardiologist and anesthesiologist prior to proceeding with surgery. That being said, if your arrhythmia is well-controlled with medication, you will likely be good candidate for breast augmentation. I...
