Why is one breast still swollen in a knot to the size of a baseball? The rest of the breast/other breast softened 8 weeks post

Question

Left breast has reduced in swelling except for a hard and painful baseball sized knot next to the cleavage. There is little to no swelling in the right breast. What can I do to reduce swelling.

Thank you very much for your question and
congratulations on your recent breast augmentation. At eight weeks post-op, you
are still in the early recovery stage. Swelling will take four to six months to
resolve, sometimes up to a full year. It is common to find that one breast will
soften and settle faster than the other. This is normal and the breasts should
become symmetrical over time. I recommend being patient during your recovery,
giving yourself at least six months before making any assessment of your results.
However, if you have any further concerns or you notice any unusual changes in
your breasts, contact your operating surgeon for their advice.

The area of concern could be some ongoing swelling that will improve with time or it could be something else that needs to be evaluated and treated. It's hard to know what is going on without examining you or seeing a photo. You could be experiencing normal swelling or other conditions such as fluid/blood buildup.
Consider seeing your surgeon soon, so that he can guide you through this.

Thank you for your question.I would be concerned that you have a hematoma in the left side. I think this is something that needs to be evaluated by your surgeon in person. Especially if your right side is completely healed by now.

The healing process of breast augmentation is asymmetric. This means that often, one breast will look more swollen, have more bruising, or appear higher than the other. This difference in healing is completely normal and the resulting asymmetries will go away with time.
Given that you had your surgery wis still considered to have been done a short time ago, it's entirely possible that what you're seeing is just caused by asymmetric healing. I recommend that you wait until you're 3 or 4 months post-op to have a good idea of what your final result will look like. If your breasts are still uneven after a few months have passed, then that asymmetry will not correct itself and you'd have to consider a revision if you're unhappy with your look. However if you are concerned now it is important that you schedule a consultation and communicate it with your plastic surgeon.

This does not sound typical of a breast augmentation in my opinion. It might be a good idea to see your plastic surgeon about this. It could be a fluid collection of some kind, your implant, a hematoma, or another issue entirely. I hope you see your plastic surgeon and everything checks out ok. Good luck!

This demands you see your surgeon for an evaluation and for a diagnosis so it can be managed in the proper manner.  I simply cannot imagine a baseball sized mass in your cleavage after an augmentation so photos would have helped.  Still, you should be discussing your concerns with your surgeon and letting your surgeon guide you though the healing process as your surgeon should share the same desire for you to have the best outcome possible.
