In time the appearance of your scars should improve. It is important to follow up closely with your surgeon so that appropriate scar therapy and/or steroid injections can be administered.
Yes, you are only 1.5 weeks out from surgery. I would give it more time. If it doesn't improve, I recommend an in-office examination as well as a detailed discussion with a surgeon who you are comfortable with. Finally, make sure your surgeon is a Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS), a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).Best,Dr. DesaiBeverly Hills Institute for Aesthetic Plastic SurgeryHarvard Educated, Beverly Hills & Miami Beach TrainedDouble Board-Certified, Double Fellowship-Trained Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon
Great question. You are describing normal healing of new incisions. Generally scars will flatten and become lighter or time. Scars usually mature around 12 months. Your plastic surgeon may suggest a scar cream to use. Good luck.
Thank you for your question and photograph. Your photograph indicates normal healing for a scar at 11 days post procedure. Remember that scars can take up to a full year to mature. Best of luck.
Thank you for your pictures and questions. For 11 days after surgery, these incisions look completely normal. My advice would be to stop pulling on them and looking at them to take pictures and let them heal without disturbance. The scars will flatten, soften, and the color will fade, but it will take a full year for that process to complete. In the meantime, you should discuss with your surgeon what methods he or she suggest for scar management.Good luck!
Dear darkshadowgirl, you are still in the very early stage of recovery and your scars should change a lot with time. They should become flat, soft and less visible.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
At about 1.5 weeks after surgery, it is not uncommon for the healing areas to appear raised, thick, and discoloured. The scar should flatten, soften, and blend in with your surrounding skin over time. Sometimes scars take 6-12 months to fully mature. Also, every surgeon has their own post-operative scar management protocol and I would advise speaking to your surgeon about this to promote ideal healing conditions. As always, seek proper consultation before treatment and best of luck!
Congratulations on your recent surgery and thank you for sharing your question about your post operative recovery and results after your surgery. Final results can take 6-12 months for all the swelling to subside. At our office we actually see all of our surgery patients the very next day after surgery and then again at two weeks and beyond. We enjoy staying closely connected to our patients and enjoy giving the extra attention and service. Your concerns are important to discuss directly with your board certified plastic surgeon. He or she will appreciate the open communication and will want to help you. I hope this is helpful and wish you all the very best. Sincerely, Brian S. Coan, MD, FACS
Scars may get swollen and bumpy at the stage you are now even though they appeared flat the first few days. This is temporary. If they continue to swell and get red and hot then you should see your surgeon. Wound infections occur 7 to 10 days after surgery. It would be unusual for you to manifest an infection this late. You should discuss scar management with your surgeon.
as the skin is bunched up causing the 'thick' feeling. The incision itself is a fine line within the bunched up skin. That is what you should be focusing on and you look perfectly fine. You can always get your surgeon's feedback based on what is actually happening rather than a photo. Your 'scar' will get better as you heal and it will flatten.
It’s important to consult with a skilled plastic surgeon for guidance on breast augmentation, especially if you have fibrocystic breasts. Potential side effects can vary and may include pain, swelling, and changes in sensation. Your medical history and individual factors will play a role in d...
In general, a patient's baseline anatomy is the limiting factor as to what can be achieved after a breast augmentation. While implants can improve cleavage somewhat from the added volume to the breasts alone, it would be risky to dissect a breast pocket extending medially in the hopes of...
Yes, you may keep your acrylic nails on, if the color of the acrylic or polish is nude or very light shades. It is not recommended to wear dark polish or you may need to remove it from at least one nail bed. It is always an excellent idea to bring any questions with you to your consultation for...
