Is it safe for me to do Emsculpt on my stomach after lipo and abs sculpting?

I have many patients who I've treated with Emsculpt after performing liposuction on their abdomen. The results are impressive. By combining the two treatment modalities, a patient is able to get the benefits of both fat removal and muscle building/sculpting. 

Thank you for your question. Most patients are great candidates for Emsculpt after a tummy tuck and lipo. Emsculpt will strengthen your core and tone your muscles. Each treatment is 30 minutes long and is equivalent to doing 20,000 sit-ups. Typically 4 treatments are recommended spaced 2-3 days apart in a 2 week period for best results. It is best to consult with a Medical Esthetician at a Board Certified Plastic Surgeons office.

Hi Darzeli,Happy and Healthy New Year!  Not to worry, Emsculpt is great in patients who have had stomach liposuction and abdominal sculpting.  Of course you must not have any metallic implants or permanent metallic surgical staples within 7 centimeters of the Emsculpt treatment paddles.  Our patients have been thrilled with their Emsculpt results.  Just today I have had one patient thank us for his treatments, he has lost 3 inches in his waist and is able to "get into" the suit he needs to wear to a wedding this weekend.  Another woman thanked us for the affect that Emsculpt has had on her workouts, stating that she is much stronger and can accomplish more.  Her core is stronger and she is able to "cruise" through her yoga classes, particularly holding her plank position significantly longer.  Go ahead and enjoy your Emsculpt journey.  Good luck and be well.Dr. PEncino, CA

You should be able to do Emsculpt after abdominoplasty and liposuction once you are completely healed.  It will tone your muscles, strengthen your core and enhance the previous procedures.  Best of Luck!

Emsculpt is likely to be totally safe in this situation, post liposuction and ab sculpting. In fact it may be beneficial because when you have liposuction the micro circulation to the skin is disrupted and can cause premature aging in the area treated. Additionally scar tissue can form which can block lymphatic drainage. Increasing the muscular contractions will increase blood flow through your tissue in the area. That may result in a healthier appearance of your abdominal skin. I would make sure that you have a proper consultation with a supervising physician though prior to doing a session to make sure that you are a good candidate given the surgical history.

At this point everything should be healed and stable after your tummy tuck. I don’t see that this procedure would have any impact on your tummy tuck results.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
