Hourglass 37. I am not a fan of lymphatic massage after Tummytuck or liposuction because it is very painful and swelling will go away on its own. Save the money on massage and put it towards your new wardrobe after surgery! Good luck!
Dear Hourglass 37,This depends a lot on the surgeon and the patient. If the patient is recovering well and has minimum pain, i start the massages 5-7 days after surgery and recommend 10-15 sessions ( 1 session daily). You will have an easier and less painful recovery this way.Best of luck!
Thanks so much for reaching out. I would wait two weeks before starting any massage and you could do a massage daily for about another two weeks. If you had any fat grafting I would be sure to make sure the massage therapist stays away from the grafts.I hope this helps :)
Dear Hourglass37,Massages are very helpful after a tummy tuck. They reduce the swollen and help you recover faster. I typically recommend massages daily for 10-14 days. If you could add ultrasound therapy it will be even better. Best wishes.
There are no good studies to guide us, but I recommend doing whatever you prefer. It may be painful so limit the treatment sessions if that's the case. If it seems to help, do it daily. This is up to you completely. Best wishes.
I do not usually recommend massage for patients after a tummy tuck because in most cases they do well on their own.
I would say , ask your Surgeon about it. Depends on several factors. But generally 10 sessions on 10 days should be ok.Regards
At our center we provide post-op massage and ultrasound sessions beginning 1 week after surgery. We usually suggest 4-6 sessions once or twice a week. Some people though opt for more.
I do not recommend lymphatic massage as I have seen aggressive massage result in hematomas and fluid collections.
Thank you for the question and the information provided. Lymph drainage massages can help with healing after surgery. This type of massage regenerates tissues to reduce scarring at surgical incision sites. Lymph drainage massages also reduce swelling and detoxify the body. Pressure and...
Hi, 3 weeks is too soon to see results because some swelling and bruising may persist for 6–8 weeks. It varies greatly between patients. Final #results can usually be seen 2-4 months later as the swelling continues to diminish and contours become more defined, but improvement will continue...
Hello dear!! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. I recommend my patients have massages daily right after surgery, but each surgeon has a different protocol. Good luck :)
Ideal candidates are at a stable weight, in good health , and have excess fat in some parts of the body and too little in other regions. Gaining weight before the procedure is to no advantage and when you lose weight again the fat cells will shrink just like the donor site fat cells. ...
Hello, thanks for your question. I recommend you to consult your surgeon, because this will vary between physician. 3 days after is alright, sometimes the day after the procedure.
