How soon can I get a lymphatic massage post surgery?

I got liposuction a couple of days ago. Of course I am quite swollen as expected. Plus I didn't have any drainage issue. As a matter of fact no leakage at all. I don't know if it normal so I was wondering how soon I can get a lymphatic massage.

I start all our patients on massages and exercising after 1 week post lipo. Most are back to work in 2 days and back to the gym in 1 week.

I usually tell my patients they can get massages as long as they are not too tender to tolerate them. You should definitely consult with your plastic surgeon before doing anything. Good luck!

For patients who would like lymphatic drainage massage after liposuction, I recommend starting about 1 week after surgery.

Ask your PS  first for  an opinion. Lymphatic massage spends on the location of the liposuction.  I use it commonly  following facelifts and liposuction of the lower extremities .  It is started after the first dressing change, 3-5 days. The difficulty is having a massage therapist who is well qualified to perform it .

Great question! I love sending my patients for lymphatic massage after liposuction!  Certainly, you should speak to your surgeon but I typically advise my patients that they can start as soon as they feel comfortable.  Typically this is 1-2 weeks after surgery but every patient is different as far as their recovery and pain tolerance.  Good luck!
