As a rule, whenever necessary, I typically massage volumizers and fillers immediately following treatment in order to mold, sculpt and smooth them. However, it has been shown that these products may still respond to massage up to a month following injection. Having said this, I just want to make the point that these days, most experienced injectors make certain that the rest of the face, particularly the cheeks and the mid-cheek regions, is properly volumized before directly treating lines, such as the marionette lines and smile lines. In fact, often these lines do not even need to be directly treated once the cheeks have been properly volumized. What's more, not uncommonly, if the marionette lines (or smile lines) are treated directly without prior treatment of the cheek regions, the look achieved may not be the desired one. In the case of smile lines, via direct injection, there is a risk of flattening them to the point of creating what is known as the "simian" facies--i.e. the smile line-less face of a chimpanzee. And in the the case of the marionette lines, there is the risk of giving rise to linear mounds, which sounds like it might be the case here with you, or a distortion of the angles of the mouth. Finally, neither plain simple Juvederm nor ordinary Restylane would be appropriate for the volumization needed to accomplish the above. They are simple fillers, rather than volumizing agents, are best reserved for treating superficial lines and wrinkles. Make sure you are consulting and receiving treatment by a board certified aesthetic physician. Best of luck to you
Gentle massage will help smooth the treated areas and should not cause them to flatten out. Since every surgeon differs slightly on their post-injection protocol find out what exact instructions they want you to follow. I hope this helps,-Dr. Angelos
Massage only can change the outcome of juvederm immediately after injection or if a lump forms. If it has been in place for a while, massaging will not help and hyaluronidase is the only reversing. Best, Dr. Emer.
Thank you for your question. I typically massage during injections to have evenly distribute the filler. I typically do not ask patients to massage the filler unless there is a small contour irregularity that is usually responds to gently massaging for a few days.Good Day,Dr. Jones
Thank you for sharing your question. Unfortunately without knowing the timing since injection it is difficult to offer recommendations. If it has been over 2-3 weeks since treatment massage is unlikely to flatten any contour irregularities away. Your treatment options would be to have your injector dissolve the JVD with hyaluronidase or allow time to slowly metabolize the product over 6-8 months. Hope this helps.
If this is from a recent injection, then give it a few weeks to settle. Massage might be appropriate, but ask your injector first. If the problem lingers then you can dissolve it with hyaluronidase.Best of luck, Dr. Aldo
If you recently had Juvederm injected and there are lumps then massaging the treated area can flatten it out. If the injections were more than two weeks ago then there will be no change. If you are unhappy with the results of your injections then I would definitely return to your dermatologist to discuss. Often Voluma is best to treat this area with malar injections. Please consult an expert for the best cosmetic results. Best, Dr. Green
Vigorous massage in the area of filler can lead to less longevity and dispersion of the filler. I wouldn't do it. I don't think that massage will help marionette area. The area can be helped with PDO threads as well.
Juvederm filler injection is a great treatment option for treatment of marionette lines and pre jowl hollowing. I usually massage the filler after I inject it. I will occasionally instruct patients to gently massage the filler if there is a small lump or bump. I recommend you discuss with your injector.
Thank you for your question. Your injector may massage to smooth the product at the time of the injection, but some lingering fullness after the injection may occur. Typically, the product is fully incorporated with the surrounding tissues and any fullness goes away by 2 weeks after the injection. I show patients how to massage any areas that may feel full at the time of the injection. Massage may be beneficial in your case, depending on the timeline. Please be sure to check with your injector in order to determine the best course of action. Hope this helps and best wishes!
I'm sorry to say but your lips are overinflated and have lost their natural proportions due to excessive amount of filler. Since you have never been satisfied with previous injections I suggest to try next time much, much smaller volume, the amount that will give the beauty of your own face ...
I'm sorry you're unhappy with your treatment. It's best to wait for 2 weeks after your procedure before any further treatment just to ensure swelling has all subsided. At that point you may want to have the current filler dissolved and try a different technique.
Hi there, There are a lot of variables when it comes to "how long" different Dermal Fillers will last. Every individual is different. Juvederm might last longer on one person than another. Generally Dermal filler can last anywhere from 3-9 months. The first time we say 3-6...
