Can I still get implants even though I have cheek fillers?

I've used products like Restalyne and Radiesse but still I need something to make my cheeks bigger and long lasting. So I'm wondering if even though I've had fillers, can I still get cheek implants?

Yes, you can have cheek implants placed after fillers. In the case where the fillers were recently placed, you might want to wait until the fillers have resorbed in order to allow for more ideal selection of the cheek implants. If you like the look of your cheeks with fillers, I believe that you will be happy with cheek implants. They are permanent and provide excellent lift and fullness to the cheeks.

Cheek implants after fillers? Yes you can do this IF you tell your surgeon that you had filler and what kind of filler.Also choose a very experienced surgeon who has done many of these!

Hello and thank you for your question. I would recommend having the filler dissolved with an enzyme prior to planning implant placement.  Malar implants can be placed as a permanent way to gain volume in the cheek.  I always use medpor implants with screw fixation.  Silicone malar implants tend to have a high rate of malrotation over time.  The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with.

You can certainly get cheek implants with fillers in place. But it would be aesthetically best to have the fillers dissolved prior to getting the cheek implants so an implant overcorrection does not occur once the filler dissipates.

Yes, it is certainly possible to undergo cheek implants when cheek fillers are in place. It's important  to tell your surgeon that you have fillers, so that you and your surgeon pick the appropriate size implant to place in the cheeks.  If the cheeks  have been  significantly inflated with injectables, the size of the implant placement maybe under sized.

That is a great question. The simple answer is, if you want cheek implants then don't get the fillers since you would have to wait until the effect of the fillers go away  before you get the implants. It will be impossible for your surgeon to pick the correct implant size and predict the outcome if he/she placed the implants after you had fillers done recently. Imagine what happens when the filler effect goes away! No the implants will look too small and you have to have them re-done. Another important thing to consider is that if you have implants then you should not get fillers as the injection of the filler could seed the implants with bacteria and they could get infected in which case they would need to be removed!

This is a dicey subject. Fillers are usually injected on bone and the implant is also placed there. for me the big thing aobut the implant is choosing the right kind. The cheek bone goes from the nose to the temple so doing a careful analysis of your photos to find where you want contour and where you want a high point is important as there are many different types of cheek implants. Depending on how much filler you have in your cheek it could distort the view you are looking for. Hope that helps!

Yes, you can get cheek implants with fillers in place but you should realize that they will not be as prominent after the filler material dissolves. It would be best to wait and you definitely need to tell your plastic surgeon that you have fillers.

Yes, you can have cheek implants placed for permanent augmentation after filler injections. Be prepared to tell your surgeon what was injected and when. If the fillers are still present consider injections to dissolve the residual filler so the ideal size and shaped implant is selected.
