The top left side of my lip seems to be more swollen than everywhere else. This is also a lot of generalized bruising. Will this even out? Should I be massaging the area? The swelling is more on the inside of the lip so it’s not noticeable when my mouth is closed, but if I talk and smile I get self conscious. I’m going back to work in 2 days and I’m praying things subside by then!
Answer: Swelling after Lip Fillers--wait 2 weeks Swelling can be typical. Icing and cold compresses may give improvement. I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase. I hope this helps!

Answer: Asymmetrical Swelling after Lip augmentation with Fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Volbella) It's too soon to tell what your final results will be. You have swelling, which can be asymmetrical, and last 1-2 weeks after lip injections. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Bruising, swelling, and assymetry from filler in the lips Thanks for the question. Swelling, and even bruising, are not terribly uncommon after treating an area like the lips with fillers. Not everyone experiences swelling or bruising, but when it occurs, it can last as little as 2-3 days, to as much as 2-3 weeks. Swelling, without bruising, is far more common and usually resolves quickly. Swelling, in combination with bruising, often last longer and provides a temporary asymmetry of your results. Either way, most of the time, the results are satisfactory after a couple of weeks, and the patient gets the benefit of 6-12 months of improvement. If you are still concerned, have a low threshold to visit your treating surgeon to discuss your concerns. Best of luck.
