I just dissolved my lip injections. How can I speed up the recovery?

If you dissolve juviderm ultra xc lip injections with hylenex, what can you do to speed up the dissolve recovery (such as ice lips, etc.)?

Hello and thank you for your question.  With any injection, there will be some degree of swelling, bruising and tenderness that can last up to 2 weeks (depending on the severity).  Intermittent icing, taking Arnica, and avoiding massage can help in your healing time. Best of luck!

Icing and cold compresses may give improvement, but keep in mind, it may take a series of hyaluronidase to dissolve filler. Best, Dr. Emer

Thanks for your question and as Dr. Emer has stated, it sometimes takes several treatments with hyaluronidase to dissolve HA fillers in the lips.  Ice and gentle massage can also be done, but make sure you are with an experienced injector who knows how to use hyaluronidase

Hi there, You can apply ice or cold compresses but swelling can last a few weeks. Please keep in mind that it may take a few treatments of Hylenex to completely dissolve the material.

Swelling, bruising and tenderness in the lips are common after injections of any type.  I recommend cool compresses, arnica cream and tender loving care.  Any type of pressure will be uncomfortable and possible painful.  All the Best, Alexis Parker, MD
