What Restylane filler is best for cheeks: longevity, look, side effects?

Hi, I’m considering getting cheek filler done. I’m interested in Restylane brand as I read Juvederm tends to migrate and it draws too much water. My goal is to replace a little bit of lost volume around my cheek bone and add definition. I’m 30 y.o. What is the difference between Restylane-l, Restylane-Lyft and Restylane defyne? How long would each last and which one is better in your opinion? Thank you!

Hi and thank you so much for your question. The difference between the Restylane line of products is the softness and flexibility of each. For the cheeks, we would typically recommend Restylane Contour or Lyft due to their properties of adding more lift and volume with a moderate amount of flexibility with Contour and more firmness with Lyft compared to the rest of the Restylane line. In regard to how long each would last, the typical range is anywhere from 6-12 months. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your question. I tend to prefer Restylane Lyft for the cheek area, as it has a good consistency for adding volume and tends to last a bit longer than some of the other fillers. However, Juvederm Voluma is also a good option for this area. The experience and skill of your injector is the most important when choosing this procedure. A qualified injector will know which filler to use to get the best result for you.

The administration of fillers is a highly technical procedure. There are so many factors to consider to determine if you are a good candidate for it, best filler to use, the right amount, etc. Some people respond better to one or the other but ultimately they are both in the same category. I would try whichever one your doctor recommends and try the other one the second time around and see which one you prefer. Overall any hyaluronic acid should give you your desired result if injected properly.

In my opinion, I would recommend Restylane Lyft or plain Restylane in the cheek area.  Both have a similar lifting capacity, which is what you need under the cheek tissues.  Juvederm products,in my opinion are  a bit too soft in that area, and therefore  a lot more product is required for a similar result.
Another option which I frequently use is Radiesse in the cheeks. 
In my opinion, I believe "less is more" , and I try to achieve great results with less product.

For the cheeks Restylane Lyft is a good choice.  It provides structure and volume to the cheek/mid face. Results can last up to 18 months, or even longer for some patients. Restylane lyft is a great filler for the cheeks. It gives volume and had has longevity of at least a year.There are a number of other fillers that from other companies that also enhance the cheeks.What I personally like about the Restylane lyft is its versatility. It can also be used in the nasolabial folds and lower face.

You need a filler that is strong enough to lift your cheekbones and that is Restylane Lyft. It is appropriately named in that sense.  Defyne is softer and won't hold up as well. You will metabolize filler differently than others but I like to say 9-12 months. You can see how beautifully Restylane Lyft works on cheekbones by clicking on the link below. You see how the heaviness in my patient's midface was immediately corrected. I have used Radiesse in these cases as well but it is not Hyaluronic Acid based and cannot be reversed. There is absolutely no better product for cheek augmentation then the patient’s own fat. When fat grafting is done by an expert plastic surgeon, the results are natural and permanent without the associated complications of fillers or the need to repeat the process every 6 to 12 months.
