I’m 8 mo postpartum with my 2nd. Both were c-sections and have a “shelf,” as well as 3f inger wide diastasis recti from around my navel and down. Upper abs are separated but not as bad. Like 1-2 fingers. I’m wondering.. 1) am I a candidate for mini tuck vs full. 2) if I have to do full, is there a way to avoid the full hip to hip scar?

Answer: Mini Tummy tuck versus full Thank you for your query. You do need a repair of the rectus diastasis , both above and below the belly button. The best way of avoiding a full tummy tuck in this situation, is to have a mini tummy-tuck with the “floating belly button” tummy-tuck technique where a complete repair of the diastasis can be done with no scar around the belly button and a shorter scar in the lower part. Please find an experienced board certified Plastic surgeon who can examine you and help you with all your concerns. All the best!

Answer: Full tummy tuck It looks like you would benefit from a full tummy tuck since you mention that you have abdominal muscle separation above your belly button.
