Areola reduction - am I a candidate and would I need a lift also? (Photos)

Question

I’m a little self consious about the size of my areolas. I was womdering if I’d be a good candidate for an areola reduction, or if a lift is required as well. I still prefer the look of larger areolas and wouldn’t want them too small, but my current size is too large for my preference.

my preferred lift is a lollipop lift when a periareolar won't do (ie greater than 2cm lift required). The lollipop technique was created by a Canadian plastic surgeon named Elizabeth Hall-Findley and treats the breast as a three dimensional structure instead of two dimensions (anchor - lift). Most importantly it does not require the horizontal component scars that the anchor-lift requires and breasts appear much more natural, lifted, and less boxy. Lastly, the lift lasts longer because the lollipop doesn't rely on the skin to hold the breast up, its actually breast tissue thats being brought together to support the breast and hence improves longevity.

Looking at your photo, you do appear to have enlarged areolas that could benefit from areola reduction. The good news is that areola reduction can be performed as a standalone procedure without requiring a full breast lift. You can achieve a more proportionate size while still maintaining the larger areola look you prefer - it's all about finding the right diameter for your frame and preferences. I'd recommend bringing photos of your ideal areola size to your consultation to ensure you and your surgeon are on the same page.

At the same time, based on your photos, you certainly "qualify" for a breast lift.  Your decision should be made based upon your goals, and your willingness to accept scars.

From the submitted photos you are a good candidate for a breast lift.  This will reduce the size of the areola, remove excess skin, and raise the position of the nipple.  You can request the areola size that you would prefer.  An areola reduction alone would not be recommended for you.  See a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more.
