Hello, I am considering an extended tt but not sure if I would get good results based on my bmi of 29. When I lay flat my tummy goes flat as opposed to standing. I have lost 80lbs but wondering if I need to lose more to have nice results.
Answer: A lower BMI will give you a better result In general, performing surgery at a lower BMI will give you a better result. However, you want to make sure that you can actually maintain this lower weight. You don't want to lose 20 lbs, do surgery, and then gain that 20 lbs back. This will give you a worse result in the end. If you can maintain a lower weight, you likely will be able to have a nicer final result. It would be important to do an examination to see what is causing your excess fullness. This can be due to visceral fat, but can also sometimes be due to separation of the rectus muscles in your abdomen. If you weight does decrease further you will likely have even more loose skin. I that case a fleur-de-lis tummy tuck may be a better option for you, as it would help to further narrow the waist.

Answer: Tummy Tuck Candidate Thanks for your question. From your pictures and your BMI you seem to be a good candidate for a tummy tuck. At my practice, the BMI limit is 33 and includes muscle repair. Being as close to your ideal weight is always recommended. I suggest scheduling a consult for a proper evaluation. Always consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Take care, Moises Salama MD, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Candidacy for Tummy Tuck Based on your pictures you may be an excellent candidate for a procedure referred to as a "Mommy Makeover" combined with a BBL that consists of fat grafting to your buttocks and lateral hips. The "mommy makeover" addresses protruding abdominal muscles, loss of volume in the breasts, and skin laxity around the buttocks, abdominal, and breast regions. It is recommended that you are within 5-10 lbs of your goal weight in order to maintain your results in the long term. A healthy BMI is between 15 - 24, the maximum recommended being around 30. If you are above 30, then you are encouraged to lose weight before undergoing surgery. The higher the BMI the higher the chance of complications. A virtual or in person consultation with a Tummy Tuck specialist will help you get an accurate recommendation and pricing. Respectfully,Brandon Richland, MD
