Is microneedling safe after PicoSure laser? I got PicoSure laser treatment for hyperpigmentation about two weeks ago.

I read somewhere else on here that microneedling is safe after pico laser, but just wanted to confirm that. If I do a home micro needling session to help with hyperpigmentation, is that going to interfere with whatever the laser has done? Or might it work in synergy with the laser to give better results? Thanks!

Yes, I often combine microneedling with lasers to improve outcomes and we do these on the same day. I recommend adding prp to improve results. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

I do not recommend at home microneedling devices safety reasons. However, a you could have a medical grade microneedling session at this point 2 weeks after your last laser treatment.

Thanks for your question.  Due to the lack of supervision, we never recommend home use devices.  We have been treating hyperpigmentation with PicoSure for 4 years.  We never pair it with microneedling to improve results.  I think it is more likely they your will cause post inflammatory hyperpigmentation from the unnecessary microneedling trauma.  Read the questions on Real Self about people with PIH after microneedling.  I hope this helps.

Microneedling performed in a medical setting using PRP is very safe after laser as long as your skin is perfectly healed from the procedure. I do not recommend home microneedling because of risks of possible infection and because the home device is not as effective as the medical-grade one. Also if your home device was effective to treat hyperpigmentation, why did you need a laser procedure for your pigments?
