Contemplating microneedling. I'm worried it'll make my face worse as it's not that bad currently. Is this safe?

Microneedling is a great option for your situation.  We use the Vivace RF microneedling system, high I think is a fantastic device, great for acne scarring and hyperpigmentation, and you certainly don't need PRP, although it can certainly help. 

Yes, medical grade microneedling done in a physicians office by an experienced provider is safe and effective. I like to use microneedling when treating acne scars, enlarged pores, and uneven skin texture. 

There are many different MicroNeedling technologies on the market. The main difference is the depth of the needles and this is where safety comes into play. I would recommend that if possible, you have your treatment done by a medical professional. Micro-Needling causes micro-injuries to the skin causing a healing response which produces growth factors and collagen. Since you indicated you cannot use PRP with microneedling, perhaps you can use pure Hyaluronic acid to plump the skin and diminish the appearance of pitted acne scarring. I always recommend my patients do a light microdermabrasion before microneedling is performed to eliminate surface debris. 

Hi kerbie86,Microdermabrasion is superficial and though your skin looks amazing after, it doe not cause collagen formation. However, with microneedling, the needle  causes micro injuries that release growth of factors and causes collagen synthesis. Over time,it can diminish the look of scars. It is considered safe, specially if not done too aggressively ir too frequently. However, this is not the best option for those with keloids, hypertrophic scars or ice pick scars.
