Is microneedling procedure really the best procedure for making fine lines & wrinkles disappear?

As a 58 year old, I was told this microneedling procedure would be the best procedure to makes my wrinkles disappear. I have having second thoughts and m procedure is set for today. I am also doing the Alma skin tightening procedure in between the microneedling. So far, I have only done the Alma and love those results.

Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in.

Microneedling can be very effective, but it is not right for everyone. Microneedling works well for fine lines, skin texture problems, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and overall skin quality, but is not an aggressive treatment and must be performed in a series. Patients with deep lines or wrinkles often need a more aggressive treatment like a fractional CO2 laser treatment or a deep chemical peel (a peel performed by a doctor under anesthesia, not one performed by an aesthetician). Be sure to see a doctor who specializes in facial aesthetic procedures in order to review all of the options in detail.All the best,

Microneedling using PRP is a great procedure at stimulating collagen production and improving scars. At 58 years old I believe you might need other techniques along with microneedling to treat wrinkles. At your age you will benefit from Botox and fillers alongside with microneedling. You need to consult with an experienced physician and discuss your options.

Thanks for your question.  We offer microneedling along with over a dozen energy based procedures.  Once our patients hear about their non-invasive options available, no on chooses the trauma and downtime of microneedling.  I'm not sure what Alma skin tightening treatment you are doing, but it sounds like your skin is improving.  If the wrinkles are caused by muscle movement, we would recommend BOTOX/XEOMIN to minimize the movement.  After that, you may need some volume replacement with dermal fillers.  Lastly, you should took for some RF (Radio Frequency) bulk heating skin tightening.  Pelleve feels like a nice warm rock massage that is pain free and has no downtime.  Look for a doctor's office with lots of treatment options and excellent reviews.  I hope this helps.

Collagen induction therapy with microneedling has proven to be safe and effective in all skin tones. Multiple sessions and adequate depth is necessary depending on how deep your lines are. Complementing this with Alma skin tightening can render good results. I would recommend also complementing it with a retinoid.

There are several options, and not all methods are the best for each person.  If you are getting good results from one procedure, than I would stick with that.As far as microneedling, I use it in conjunction with RF energy and/ or PRP.  These give my patients the best results.  But certain non-invasive methods can work as well, including Pelleve/ Pellefirm RF tightening.  I will also use lasers, both surface as well as ablative, and chemical peels to achieve results.  All depends on skin types, tone, and regions being treated.Good luck to you,Dr. Powell
