The manufacturer of Juvederm says the product lasts up to 12 months and that Voluma last us to 2 years. These are typical estimates for patient results and all patients are different. I am not sure what your doctor means by your "immune system" causing the problem. Perhaps for some reason, your body metabolizes the product faster. The only way to be sure would be to see your local board certified plastic surgeon and be evaluated.
Thanks for yourquestion – and it’s a great question and something that we see and hear aboutall the time. Your immune system has nothing to do with how well fillers do –fillers always work so either you need more filler or your injector is notdoing a good job with the injections and the injection process. These injectionsshould always be done in the offices of a board-certified dermatologist orplastic surgeon – there are a lot of people doing them in spas and in otherplaces without the skill and knowledge that we have. Fillers and toxins areskilled procedures – get them done by the true experts.
What you are experiencing is unusual. In my experience, if fillers are not lasting very long, you may be metabolizing them more rapidly than the "normal" patient. But it's more metabolic than immune, I believe. If you were having an immune reaction, I would expect some level of inflammation in the area. There are so many factors at work in your question. The amount of filler being used and the technique all are important. You might want to consider checking with another practitioner for a second opinion.
There are some people who metabolize fillers more rapidly than others, but occasionally these patients just need more of the filler product for a noticeable difference. One syringe of filler (i.e. Juvederm or Restylane) only contains about a teaspoon of material, so if this is spread out in a larger area you probably won't notice much difference with just one syringe. Another filler that may give you better results is Radiesse. It wouldn't hurt to see another injector- make sure it's a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Good luck!
I too don't understand what your physician means about your immune system causing your fillers to only last a month....? After nearly 20 years of injecting, and various products over the years, I cannot tell you one time that I told someone their immune system had any affect on the longevity of their fillers. Thank you for your question about your Voluma.Voluma comes in 1 cc syringes - about 90% is product, a small amount is local anesthetic.Allergan, the company that makes Voluma, recommends that unused filler be discarded, not kept.If this is not what happened, please ask your doctor how much was...
Thank you for your question about radiesse and Voluma.Voluma is provided in 1 cc syringes.Radiesse is provided in 0.8 cc syringes and 1.5 cc syringes. So a syringe of Voluma has more than the smaller Radiesse syringe and 2/3 of the larger Radiesse syringe.I have found radiesse to be excellent for...
It is a hard to judge the results without seeing the photo prior to injection to understand the difference. In my practice, I typically do not use Voluma to naso-labial folds. My preference is to use Juvederm Ultra Plus for deep folds. Nontheless, any filler can...
