This is actually a simple question. Please don't reply with "they are different materials" "one is reversible the other is not" and "I'd have to see you in person to have some idea." From your experience in using the two products on the hundreds of patients you treat, please compare and contrast. Thanks!
Answer: Radiesse Versus Voluma, Give me the Truth! The truth is that a tube of radiesse gives more lift and longer term results than voluma, but it is not reversible. I find that 1.5-2 tubes of voluma give me the same results of 1 tube of Radiesse. They not equal in volume as they are different properties. However, Voulma holds less water than other HAs so "what you see is what you get" really does apply to Voluma AND radiesse as compared to other HA fillers like Juvederm. I tend to use more radiesse as the cost point is better for patients given the 15-18 months that Radiesse lasts. I also find that Voulma doesn't last as long as the studies show especially if you workout, diet, or are already naturally thin. If you are considering fillers, get someone to inject you with a cannula as it less painful, and less risk of bruising and swelling. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Not apples to apples volume and radiuses Radiesse is completely different product with different indications and level of placement. Voluma is an ideal treatment for enhancement of the mid face. It works beautifully to correct malar fat descension and aging of the mid face. In some case it is been shown to last up to 2 years. It is not FDA approved for any other location other than mid face. It is a deep injection just off the bone and requires expertise in injecting. It should only be injected by a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon. I would recommend you discuss your issue with a board certified dermatologist.

Answer: Voluma may last longer, is softer and is a more natural look than Radiesse for cheeks. These are 2 different fillers that have completely different materials in them. Technically, a syringe of Radiesse contains 1.5 cc of filler that is made out of Calcium Hydroxylapatite, whereas a Volume syringe contains 1 cc of specially cross-linked dense HA. So although it may seem that Radiesse is the better “deal”, I prefer Voluma for a number of reasons for injections into the cheeks. First of all, the feel of Voluma is softer and more natural in the skin. The outcome has a prettier and softer appearance in my hands as well. Most importantly from the point of view of value per syringe, Voluma has been shown to last for up to 2 years whereas Radiesse has only been shown to last for up to 1 year in the cheeks. So let’s say you needed to use 2 syringes of Voluma for best results in the cheeks and you might be able to get away with 1 syringe of Radiesse. You may only get 1/2 the longevity out of the Radiesse injection, making the value similar. In addition, you get more product with the 2 cc (more is almost always better! We are talking about very small amounts of product, and although nobody wants to be overfilled, it is more often true we are using less than optimal due to the expense of the products.). Finally a more natural result occurs, in my opinion. Finally, if you are just trying to lift the cheek, and there isn’t volume loss under the eyes, and you do not have severe aging, 1 syringe of Voluma may be enough to treat the cheek area.

Answer: Regarding filler in the cheeks how many syringes of Voluma does it take to get the volume of one syringe of Radiesse? Radiesse comes in .8cc syringes and 1.5cc syringes. Voluma comes in 1cc syringes. If you injected a total of 1cc of Voluma on one check and a total of 1cc of Radiesse on the other the fullness will be the same. the major difference is the longevity.

Answer: Volume is Volume If you want a simple answer then volume is volume. Radiesse comes in .8ml and 1.5ml syringes. Voluma comes in 1ml syringes. If you want an equal volume amount then you need 1 1/2 syringes of Voluma to equal what is considered a regular size volume syringe of Radiesse, which is the 1.5ml size. I do not think these fillers work the same or actually fill the same, but to speak clearly, the total volume put in would be the same.
