Question

I had a 2000 graft FUE procedure four days ago. The night of the surgery I had tenderness and pain in my forehead on both sides that prevented me from sleeping. It took 2 T3s to sleep. The pain resolved the day after surgery as my face started to swell. The third evening, the pain came back (tenderness to touch, tightness, pulling in certain areas, all at about a 4/10, but constant and unrelenting) but only on one side. Advil did little, but 2 T3s again did the trick. 4th day there’s still pain.

Patients report feeling tightness and at times a mild discomfort in the donor area at time after FUE but pain is minimal.  It is best to see your surgeon to assess as to why you are having pain in the donor area.

Usually after FUE forehead pain could be attributed to the local anesthesia injections. It's best if you can follow up with your hair transplant surgeon to evaluate the donor and recipient sites

Pain can be subjective but is generally mild after FUE hair transplant. Any unusual discomfort should be discussed with your physician who can assess you in person.

Headaches are common post op hair transplant and can be alleviated with medications. As the scalp tissue heals the headaches do settle down.

If you have pain after FUE in donor area, I would suggest that you see your doctor and make sure that there is no infection present. Most of my patients don't complain about their donor area with FUE
