i had recently posted about potential thickening of hair after FUE. It has been a year and I wanted to ask the doctors if they would recommend another FUE/SmartGraft and if they were doing this for a client would they reduce the cost since it isn't the result i was looking for? the procedure was around 1700 grafts and only on the crown and really only concerned about the crown.
Answer: Crown hair transplants The crown is the most challenging area to restore in terms of achieving density- while 1700 grafts can make a significant improvement to the frontal region, such outcomes are much less impressive for the same amount of grafts into the crown due to the radial direction of hair growth, the deceptively large size of the area, and the convex shape of the scalp/skull in the crown. Furthermore, before transplanting a crown, it is imperative that the surgeon make sure that especially with younger patients that there will be enough donor hairs. Finally, the state of the art in FUE is not with sharp punches but rather hybrid punches. Hair transplantation is a procedure that should be conducted by physicians and licensed medical providers, and not delegated to technicians.

Answer: The experience of your doctor and team will ensure high percentage of grafts surviving. Numbers don't guarantee results. It's the doctor and his team that provide great results. A great doctor with an experience team can achieve far superior results will less number of grafts than an inexperienced doctor with hired traveling techs promising high number of grafts at a bargain. Remember not all grafts will take. The experience of your doctor and team will ensure high percentage of grafts surviving. The experience and artistic talent of the doctor will ensure a natural looking hairline. If you are unsatisfied, follow up with your surgeon or consult with another surgeon.

Answer: Crown Procedure 1700 grafts is rarely enough to populate the crown area. Often we need up to 3000 grafts to gain acceptable density. That said, suction machines like SmartGraft and NeoGraft can cause damage to the tissue through flash desiccation (drying out) of the grafts. My recommendation is to find a clinic where the procedure is performed without suction assistance, and the physician (not an unlicensed technician) performs the procedure.

Answer: Unsatisfactory Results Hi and thank you for the questions. I am very sorry you were not happy with the results from the provider you chose to perform the work. The crown area can be a challenge for some just based off having to try and duplicate the natural swirl pattern that naturally occurs in that area. When it comes to filling in the crown area we really like to pack a lot of hair into the area. What was the reason you chose 1700? What was the providers response to your unhappiness. We actually use SmartGraft to assist us with FUE and we have never achieved better results. What type of FUE did they use for your procedure? I am confident your Doc would not want you being unhappy. Communicate your feelings with them and see what the response will be. You may be surprised. Thank you, Jon

Answer: Hair restoration consultations A great first step would be an online consultation. Often you can submit photos to top hair restoration surgeons for a complimentary evaluation. This should help lead you in the right direction. Having multiple consultations with different doctors cannot hurt.
