Self-cartilage augmentational Asian rhinoplasty costs $20,000?

I feel very strongly that synthetic materials should be not be placed in your nose during Asian rhinoplasty, so my personal feeling is that regardless of price you should not consider that option.  With regards to surgeon fees and the variation amongst surgeons - this will depend on geographical location and the expertise of the surgeon.  While the adage is not always true that you get what you pay for, generally surgeons will not be able to stay in business long if their prices are not in-line with their results.  

The price can vary from surgeon to surgeon depending on their experience and expertise. You need to obtain several consultations and ask for photographs of previous patient's at the surgeon has operated on. This is a very common request from Asian patients who are seeking rhinoplasty surgery to enhance their appearance.  Generally, I recommend using cartilage from your own body instead of using an implant to help minimize the complications of infection, rejection, migration, extrusion, etc.  It does take more time and skill to use your own cartilage to build up your nose and thus the cost will be higher as the operating room and anesthesia fees will also cost more the longer your surgery takes.  However, please consult with a board certified specialist in Asian noses to achieve the results you seek. 3-dimensional computer imaging can also help you visualize what you may look like afterwards and serve as an important communication tool with your surgeon.

I would suggest using your own cartilage for this procedure. I have had to take out too many infected implants that have shown up months and sometimes years after surgery without any warning. You only want to have the surgery done once and 20k is not unreasonable especially after OR and anesthesia fees. I often obtain rib cartilage and this is then finely diced and rolled in a thick layer of muscle lining (fascia) and secured in place over the nasal bridge. The nasal tip also needs to be grafted. Additionally, the nostrils may need to be narrowed (alarplasty and/or sill reduction). This procedure can take about 5 hours to complete with the combined chin augmentation.

Hello. A primary rhinoplasty using a silicone implant is less challenging from a technical standpoint but associated with potential long-term complications.
