Will Chin/Neck liposuction help with the rings around my neck and give me the appearance of a slimmer looking neck?

Some patients with laxity of the lower face may have some droopiness related to a retrusive chin.  This may help, and so will Ultherapy alongside a chin implant to tighten the lower face and neck.

Liposuction or a neck lift would be the two alternatives from your description, but a physical exam or the appropriate pictures would be necessary to give an accurate answer in regard to your specific circumstance. Find a plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of facial procedures each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. there are 2 types of fat in the neck, these are sub-platysmal and sub-mental fat. Both will need to be removed to rejuvenate the neck. A platysma-plasty will also be required once any sub-platysmal fat is removed. The horizontal creases are present in the neck will not get any better with any type of surgery.

It is possible the liposuction under the chin and neck will give you a slimmer looking neck. However, some photos (frontal and profile views) of this area are necessary to further confirm or at least suggest this option. It could also be possible that after the liposuction you are left with loose skin and/or underlying muscle and thus need a neck lift to tighten this up. Best next step is to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon that can physically evaluate you and recommend the best plan from there. Glad to help...

My suggestion is to consult with a surgeon
regarding your neck. You may be a candidate to submental Smartlipo; this
procedure will contour your jawline making it more definitive. You will be
required to wear a compression garment over the area for a few days but it will
be worth the new jawline/neck appearance. Good luck!

thank you for the question. Generally speaking you can't make a wide neck and are smaller with liposuction or even laser assisted liposuction such as slim lipo.  You might be able to make it look a little bit better but it's definitely do have limitations and if you're truly working on the lateral aspects of the neck you were jeopardizing some sensory nerves and potentially even motor nerves they can give you some prolonged issues. That being said we really did look at photos and an in person consultation with someone who performs neck liposculpture or liposuction regularly would be the most helpful to you. It's a possibility but we can't say for sure unless we see some photographs or see you in person.

Photos Please. In general liposuction NEVER corrects rings around the neck. Liposuction does reduce fat under the chin, in the area of the jowls, along the mandibular border, in the parotid area. and in the cheek. Your candidacy may be excellent but we really need pictures.
