Dear Sofia1984Many thanks for posting your question. This is something many people notice, and the first line of treatment would be hyaluronic acid filler. Fat grafting is an alternative to consider too.A different approach would be to perform an upper lip lift, which involves removing a section of the skin of the upper lip below the nose, leaving a scar in the creases around the nostrils and at the border of the nose and upper lip. This can help reduce the distance between the nose and upper lip, as well as to lift and evert the upper lip. It is an excellent treatment in some people, but would require an in-person consultation with a surgeon who has experience in performing lip lifts to assess and discuss whether this is possible in you.I hope this helps - good luck in taking this forwards
Thanks for your question. If you haven't tried a temporary filler then I would recommend trying that first to check that you like the look. Fat injections into the lip would then be a permanent option. However the other approach is a lip lift procedure in which a section of skin running along the junction between the lower end of your nostrils and the upper lip is removed. Your check easily see the effect that this might have by simply putting a finger on your upper lip and pushing the lip up towards your nose.
Sofia. I appreciate your concern, you have a very pretty face, so I would recommend conservative lip augmentation with Hyaluronic Acid, like Juvederm Ultra plus. Another option is fat transfer which is more permanent. Seek out a board certified plastic surgeon in your area, Good Luck!
Thank you for your question. This is an extremely common concern. A face to face consultation would help establish the reason for your top lip disappearing. Its often related to the muscle inverting the lip. There are two potential treatments that you could consider.Lip augmentation - lip fillers are a safe, minimally invasive way to create subtle enhancements, resulting natural fullness, symmetry and well-defined lips. For your first time I would suggest a hyaluronic acid filler which is non permanent. Botox - can assist with reducing the muscle activity that can lead to the lip lifting too high and showing an excess of gums. A face to face consultation with a specialist will help form a treatment plan suited specifically for you.
Thank you for posting your question and for providing a photograph of the issue you are describing. It is important to visit a physician who has experience treating lips, like a facial plastic surgeon. They are often the best physicians to visit to address the issue you are having. They will also be able to take your personal goals into account to create a customized plan of action. Commonly a combination of botox and filler is used to deal with a gummy smile, which is what you appear to be describing. Whatever the therapy may be, your trusted plastic surgeon will be more than qualified to help you navigate questions and treatment plans.Hope this helps!Dr. Dan Landmann, MD, MSEE
A gummy smile can be helped using a combination of Botox or Dysport and fillers. The Botox/Dysport will relax the muscle that causes the upper lip to raise too much when you smile and the filler will add volume to the upper lip so that it looks fuller at rest and when yo smile.
Thank you for your question - you may be surprised to hear that I see patients just like you all the time, and there is a very simple, quick, and inexpensive way to fix this with injectables - but it's not fillers! Most people refer to this as an "overly gummy smile."Instead, we can use just a few units of Botox to relax that upper lip and create a balanced smile. It usually takes 4-8 units of Botox, which is $60-120 every 3-4 months (2018 at our practice).
