6 months after upper blepharoplasty, loose skin is still present. Should I consider a revision?

Thank you for sharing your question. There is a small amount of residual skin. It would be helpful to see your “before” photos to determine the results. If there was a lot of excess skin before, then the results are good. Please repost with the pre op pics.

Brow position and eyelid laxity may be contributing to your asymmetry. I would now seriously consider a revision. My approach would strictly be the Foxtail Eyelid Lift (TM) that I perform exclusively. This will help recontour your lateral eyelids so that a more natural shape forms.

Thank you for your question. 6 months is enough time for your results to settle ultimately. This is your final result. You can definitely consider a revision surgery but I ask my patients to wait at least 12 months before considering another operation. Good luck.

Do not go back to your original eyelid surgeon. They are not going to give you what you need. The remaining skin is not "extra." It is the skin you need to have an upper eyelid fold. If you ask, someone might be foolish enough to remove all of it and this will cause you to have difficulty closing the eyes and it will also skeletonize the eyes making you look older not better. You have bilateral upper eyelid ptosis and that should be corrected. Your upper eyelid fat (assuming it was not all removed by your original surgeon, needs to be mobilized to contribute volume to the remaining upper eyelid fold. A detailed in person consultation is needed to confirm these recommendations. Your eyes can be your best feature.

Minimal sweling can still be present; scar maturation takes 12 months plus. Your asymmetry is mild and it should not bother you too much. If still present after that time, revision can be considered. Good luck.

Firstly, I want to say that I think your eyes look much improved and you have a more youthful appearance to your eyes. There can be some residual swelling present. There does appear to be a little more skin that could be removed, but I'd wait for a year for all the swelling to be gone and for scar maturation to occur prior to considering a revision. Just remember, you can always take more, but putting skin back is difficult and fraught with complications. Being a little conservative in performing a blepharoplasty is not a bad thing. Performing this too aggressively can be devastating.
