Delivering consistent quality, Liposuction results is more difficult than most people believe. Lower extremity Liposuction is technically more difficult than other areas. It’s important to have a clear understanding of what this procedure can, and cannot accomplish. Liposuction does not improve skin texture, and if anything as people age, they need it subcutaneous fat to keep the skin from looking flabby. Liposuction will not improve cellulite or skin quality and can create contour irregularities if not done well. Personally, I have a little faith that you will experience any actual skin tightening from any procedure other than direct skin excision which I’m guessing you are not interested in. Despite hype and hope procedures like bodytite , Renuvion, a.k.a. JPlasma continued to fail to actually deliver noticeable skin tightening results that cannot be explained by Liposuction alone. The number of plastic surgeons who can deliver quality flawless results without contour, irregularities on lower extremities when it comes to Liposuction, is probably in the minority. Liposuction results are permanent and irreversible. If done poorly patients can be left disfigured. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of provider selection when it comes to this procedure especially for technically difficult areas like lower extremities. Define as efficiently, talented provider, a recommend having multiple in person consultations. During each consultation as a provider to open up your portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients, who are similar money characteristics to your own. Do not make any assumptions when it comes to skill experience or competence, when it comes to Liposuction. Being a board-certified plastic surgeon with years of experience in the overall good reputation does not mean somebody has mastered Liposuction. For reference an experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing at the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. There’s no correct number of consultations to have to find the right provider. The more consultations you have the more likely you are to find the best provider. It would be helpful if you could state which you’re hoping to achieve with the procedure. The size and lower extremities, especially the contour of outer thighs, depending on what the torso looks like. To make an assessment for lower extremities we need to see if the rest of the torso for context. The lower extremities are never viewed isolated from the torso just like the torso is never assessed without seeing the lower extremities. Personally, I don’t see a need for a refined Liposuction, and considering the inner thigh, Liposuction tends to not give the results patience and help for. I’m questioning if Liposuction is even a good idea. For reference, I’ve been a board-certified plastic surgeon for 23 years. Of which the last 10 years were focused exclusively doing only liposuction and fat transfer procedures. There is currently no good treatment for middle-aged women who have flabby thighs. Reducing subcutaneous fat can compromise skin quality and skin tightening without skin excision fails to deliver quality results. My best recommendation is to stay on the side of caution and not schedule surgery until you feel completely convinced your land of someone who has efficient skillet experience and your best interest at heart. Patient seeking liposuction, especially when the candidacy is questionable. Should be far more selective than they think necessary. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
