Can I get thigh lift after liposuction?

Question

I had large volume thigh lipo done by one of nyc's top plastic surgeons. My skin wasn't great to begin with but now it's horrible. Is a thigh lift a way to correct this. It's mostly inner thigh sagging. Are there nyc dr's that specialize in this?

Thank you for your question about getting a thigh lift after liposuction. The answer is yes; you can get a thigh lift, thigh reduction, and thigh plasty after liposuction. This is not an uncommon request; many patients have thigh liposuction and return for a thigh lift. During a thigh lift, excess inner thigh skin is removed; this can either be done through a crescent incision or an incision from the groin to the knee. The crescent incision is also called a mini thigh lift. The incision from the groin to the knee is also called a full thigh lift, thigh reduction, or thigh plasty. There are several thigh lift specialists in the US. Most of them appear to be concentrated in California. Thank you for your question about getting a thigh lift after liposuction.

Hello Ria;

	It seems like you have extensive skin laxity which can be treated with a thigh lift.

	If the area of concern is in the inner thigh region then you may benefit either from a short or a long scar medial thigh lifts.

	However if the front, side and back of the thighs are of concern as well then you may also require a circumferential body lift in conjunction .

	I perform numerous body lifts on massive weight loss patients as well as patients such as you who were not responsive  to aggressive liposuction.

It sounds like a medial thigh lift is your only option.  The fact that your skin wasn't great to begin with and a large volume of fat was removed, means that loose sagging skin was probably the expected result.  Possibility of needing a thigh lift afterwards should have been discussed.

A medial thigh lift may be the procedure for you.  Pictures or an exam would be necessary to confirm.  An extended thigh lift or a groin crease thigh lift are the two medial thigh lift variants.  Find a plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials who performs hundreds of body contouring procedures each year. Thank you for the question. I would like to give you specific advice but it is difficult without a photo. 

	In cases similar to yours there are two kinds of thigh lifts that I perform depending on where the skin excess is. Either a transvers lift with the scar along the panty line or a vertical lift where the scar goes straight down to just above the knee. 

	I would recommend seeing a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to get a more detailed consultation.
