There is not much to be gained by labeling someone withtuberous breasts. An operative plan should be developed based on youranatomy. Whether that is breast implantation, lift or reduction, symmetrization or some combination of procedures, there is no particular pointin stigmatizing your breast shape. A properly trained, skilled andethical plastic surgeon can develop a plan based on your anatomy and give youthe outcome that you desire. I see absolutely no point in diagnosingsomeone with tuberous breasts or restricted base deformity. Stigmatizinga young person can have an effect on the way they perceive the outcome, even ifit is outstanding. The first thing you should do is check the ASPS websitefor a list of doctors in your area. Then look at online reviews. Check the surgeon's website. Look at their results. Askaround to see if you have any personal references, these can be very helpful. Once you have screened the doctor, meet with them. If they areprofessional and sincere, educated and experienced, if they listen to yourconcerns and develop a plan which fits with your goals, you have found a goodmatch.
Tubular breast deformity involves a sequence of breast changes that alter the shape involving the underlying breast tissue and nipple. There are varying degrees of deformity as well. There are many options depending on the goals of the patient as well as the degree of deformity. In general I find the use of anatomically shaped implants to be a significant factor in improving outcomes for tubular breast deformity. Take care
You will want to see a board certified plastic surgeon. I've attached the link below to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons website where you can search by area. Find a doctor or two whose work you like and schedule a consultation to discuss your options. Best, Dr. Nazarian
Your best bet to find a tubular breast deformity specialist in your area is to look at the asps.org website.
I would suggest starting with the American Society of Plastic Surgery and/or the Aesthetic Society of Plastic Surgery to obtain a list of well experienced board-certified plastic surgeons. Then, I would suggest you visit a few surgeons whose practices concentrate on aesthetic surgery. Ask to SEE lots of examples of their work AND preferably speak/see patients who have had similar procedures done. In your case, it will be important that your chosen plastic surgeon has a significant experience helping patients with tuberous/constricted breasts achieve the types of outcomes you will be pleased with.Be very careful with your decision-making. You will find, while doing your due diligence, that there are many different “specialties” who will offer their services to you; again, I strongly recommend you concentrate on surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. You may find the attached link, dedicated to corrective surgery for tuberous/constricted breast patients helpful to you as you learn more. Best wishes.
In my experience, a peri-areolar approach with a purse string mastopexy and a gel implant in the dual plane with lowering of the fold is necessary to correct this deformity. I would find it difficult to gain access to the bottom portion of the breast and lower the fold through a inframammary...
