Certainly you can change sizes of implants.  If you are truly unsure, have another consult with your doctor.  It is best to be sure.  The "gummy bear" implants give a more natural contour.  The round implants will give more projection.  Definitely talk to your doctor.  Good luck and be safe.John T. Good morning!Congrats on your decison to have implnats!  Breast augmentation surgery has one of the highest patient satisfaction ratings in cosmetic surgery- I am sure you will do well.In order to achieve a great result, sizing and shape choice are critical.  You are spending a lot of time and money on this endeavour, and you should be happy with your sizing.  I would make sure the surgeon knows about your indecision. In my practice, we almost always have two consultations for sizing of implants.  An augmentation consult can be somewhat overwhelming to a patient for a variety of reasons, and we have had an extremely high patient satisfaction rate  with this procedure simply by having a second visit- almost always with me personally- to be sure that both surgeon and patient are on the same wavelength in regard to expectations of results.  This has given the patient time to reflect on the large packet of information given to them  during the first visit and allow them to ask questions they may not have thought about before.  It is also much more comfortable for the patient the second time after they have gotten over any initial apprehension about disrobing during the first consult.  This comfort leads to more informed and thought out questions, and overall a much happier patient.I hope this  helps.

You want to be absolutely sure of the size before going forward with your scheduled surgery. This may require a second consultation with your surgeon. In addition to determining size, a second consultation will also give you the opportunity to ask other questions you didn't ask the first time around. Good luck

Two things stand out to me regarding your post:  First, you should NEVER have cosmetic surgery until you are FULLY prepared.  If you still have questions then you should get them answered before surgery.  We throw a lot of information at you during the initial consultation and sometimes you just need to go home and process it a little bit.  At that point, you should have the opportunity to address any concerns you might have.  If you have questions regarding size, it is best to discuss them before surgery because it's too late to consider them afterwards.  Call your doctor's office and tell him about your concerns.  He should spend whatever time it takes to prepare you for your surgery.  Second, it sounds  like your hubby and your doctor are telling you what size to get.  Husbands and doctors may come and go but you will be the one who has the implants.  While it is nice to get their input, make sure that the final decision regarding size is yours, not theirs.

the preop apt should be a time to clarify the size and type of implant you want so this shouldn't be a problem, voice your concerns at the visit.  good luck

Yes, you should be able to change your mind about implant size right up until the day before surgery.  You have a lot of legitimate concerns about implant shape and size--be sure you have all your concerns addressed before surgery.  Consider seeing a surgeon who uses Vectra 3d imaging--you can literally "try on" different implants and see your potential results prior to surgery.

Hi there, and thanks for your question.  I think it is very important for you to be comfortable with your sizing before committing to surgery.  It is often difficult for patients to make the ultimate decision on a size and style of implants.  I counsel my patients to make sure they are comfortable with the process and understand the size and style of implant being chosen.  I will guide them with my best advice to select an implant that will be best for their body type and desired look.  It can be an overwhelming process, but a thorough consult with a board certified plastic surgeon will certainly help.  Personally, I encourage my patient's to come back and re-consult if they have more questions.Good LuckSteven Camp, MD

This is a decision that must be made between you and your surgeon, and you are not stuck with an earlier decision. The "gummy bear" implants will be more expensive, so don't be surprised. If your preop is just a few days before surgery, it will be best to let the office know so that if they need to order implants they will have the time to do so. All the best.

Ultimately your surgeon wants you satisfied so please re-visit the size situation so that it is worked out prior to your surgery date.
