I had upper eye lid surgery, what are the different creams to help with the scar?
Answer: Scar creams after eyelid surgery This is a very common question that my patients ask after eyelid surgery. I've found that less is more when it comes to the upper eyelids, use a light moisturizing cream made for the eyelids only if you are experiencing dryness. Most of the time this all that is needed and scars fade away nicely with time. Thanks for you question.

Answer: Cream for scars Thank you for your question. I have my patients massage the scars with vitamin E oil. Just a tiny bit so that it doesn't get into the eyes.

Answer: Creams for scars There are many creams and treatments to help scars. For eyelid incisions you must be cautious with creams and agents that could cause eye irritation. I have patients perform aggressive massage starting at 3 weeks after surgery. I have them use the cream or lotion of choice to lubricate the area to allow massage. This seems to work quite well. Another very important part to avoid a poor scar is to avoid sun exposure and use sunblock for a period of 1 year.

Answer: Be careful of scar creams on eyelids The best way to promote healing and prevent scars is to keep the surgical sites well moisturized with a thick cream or ointment. Plain petrolatum or Vaseline is a preferred agent as it is gentle, safe and well tolerated with almost no chance of causing allergy. Because of the thin skin of the eyelid and the fact that there is a fold when the eyes are open, the eyelid area is very prone to allergy - so you have to be careful what you put on the eyelids. Thicker creams with very few ingredients are often best. We love Avene Cicalfate in my practice for all kinds of wounds and skin issues. It contains the following wound healing ingredients: zinc, copper, sucralfate and avene thermal spring water.
