I was sick and tired of my double chin! 48 year old woman with double chin! Dr Rostan had been telling me for years how easy the chin lipo and thermatight procedure was. Piece of cake! After so many years of trusting her with everything else skin rated for my entire family, got up the nerve to do it. Best decision ever. A little swelling for a few days, but a month later and massive difference! Why didn't I do it earlier? Love it!
My experience has always been excellent! Dr Rostan is exceptional! She is very knowledgeable and cares about each person individually. Every procedure has been a great success. I appreciate and value Dr Rostan.
I'm 33 years old and started getting bad, deep acne when I was about 21. It started gradually, but got worse and worse, leaving me with a pretty badly pitted face. I just got this CO2/Erbium done today, so I don't know what the results will be yet. Prior to this, I've had two Infiny Microneedling sessions with TCA (an acid that goes into ice pick scars). They seemed to help a little, and there was almost no downtime, but I wanted to see bigger changes. The session started with pictures (as always), then the consult where the doctor marks your face with what should happen where. Then the nurse applied numbing cream and shot lots of numbing injections all over (this was the most painful bit - like bee stings). We went to another room where she gave me a shot of pain killer, and an anti-anxiety pill. They did the CO2 laser first, which I only felt around the edges, and I mostly only knew it was happening from the beeps the machine made. They did the Erbium next, which was like punches of heat and they seemed to need 3 people to do it. I think there was a lot of blood, but I couldn't tell because I had tanning bed goggles on and I was pretty well drugged up. Somewhere in there they did the excision and sutures, which I also didn't feel. So far there's been a lot of oozing and bleeding and I'm applying vinegar water every few hours. I'm also using bactine spray with a numbing agent to help with the sting (and hopefully avoid infection). I'm not sure which part of the procedure is causing what, but in total, with the Aquaphor on, I feel very little pain. I'll update with photos later.
I had to travel 2 hours each way to get my under eye veins lasered. Because of that, Dr.Rostan and her staff were super accommodating and let me have the option of doing the procedure the same day of consult. I was kind of scared as industry professionals seem a little all over the place with this procedure but the laser tech took time to answer all my questions and she'd even had it done herself. So, I felt fine by the time the procedure rolled around. Dr.Rostan is very personable and funny and has a great bedside manner. And it was clear they'd done this procedure a lot. While she was at it, she even lasered two small anginas at no cost. When I left, her office staff filled my water bottle for the road. Very sweet! I'm speaking only to my experience during the procedure as it hasn't time to heal or show any side effects (hopefully there will be none). But I'm pretty confident all will be well and I plan on returning to her for other services.
Background: I have suffered from hyperhydrosis for the last 12 years (since 9th grade) and have tried everything in the book to minimize the effects of execessive sweating. The first sense of relief I had was botox injections back in 2010; however, they were pretty uncomfortable, and the sweating only stopped for about three months before coming back. Moreover, the botox caused compensatory sweating in other areas...we will save the details on that one. I discovered MiraDry on google after two instances where I sweatted through my suit - one was during the ceremony of my Wedding, the other was during a business deal after the wedding. I was determined to find a way to fix this sitation once and for all. Luckily, the doctor that performed my procedure has her office less than 10 minutes from my office, and they have been doing MiraDry procedures for the last 4 years (wish I had known earlier). After my consultation, I decided to go forward with the procedure. Procedure: I underwent the procedure on Thursday, February 22nd. The nurse that performed the majority of the procedure was excellent, and she kept me relaxed during the whole process. After doing the sweat test, to see where I am sweating, a sencil was used to outline the area where I would be receiving the treatment. The numbing process was a new method that was nearly painless where they gave me three separate tiny shots to numb three spots on the perimiter of my stenciled area. I could not feel these at all as the needle was so small. The doctor then went in with a much longer (~6") needle from these numbed sites that was able to reach all areas of the armpit and insert the numbing solution throughout. I'm horrible with needles, so I am glad I did not look (at first) when they started using the second needle. It was awkward, but completely painless because the numbing solution came out ahead of the needle. This also benefitted me by having a much faster recovery time. Once my armpits were like little balloons filled with the numbing solution, the procedure started. It took just over one hour from this point to complete the remainder of the procedure where they essentially microwave your sweat glands along with any bacterial glands that cause bad smells. The doctor, through her experience, had discovered how to make less than 1% of her patients return for a second procedure by unlocking the machine to do Level 5 treatment across the entire specturm of the armpit. Normally, the machine defaults to Level 1 on the perimeters. Additionally, where the sweat was the worst based on my sweat test, she restarted the machine and did a second pass, essentially causing it to be as if I came in for a second procedure. After the procedure was done, I put some ice packs under my armpits and returned to work. Recovery and Results: The only discomfort I felt after the procedure was the night after the procedure occurred. I was very diligent in icing and taking ibuprofin to ease the swelling. I had three sets of ice packs set up and rotated them throughout the night once the ice pack warmed up. It felt like a sunburn on a big bruise; but I could sleep through it pretty easily. The next morning was the most swollen I was durinig recovery. I went to work wearing a loose polo and a loose 3/4 zip pullover to hide the ice packs I kept on during the day. At this point, the only discomfort was from the swelling. By the end of my work day, the swelling was much less than when I woke up. By the afternoon of day two, I was back to my normal self. I am very happy to report that since this procedure, I have had zero excessive sweating. I can go about my day not worrying about covering up stains on my shirts. My sweat in this area, when it happens, is so minimal it does not even make my shirt damp. Swelling by day 4 is pretty much gone, and I am back to my regular gym schedule. I was so happy with the results that I ended up buying a bunch of new shirts in colors I never thought I could wear along with throwing away any shirt that has any evidence of pit staining in my closet. I feel like a new me! In conclusion, if you are on the fence about MiraDry, I highly recommend it. It is hard to imagine how much time and energy you spend worrying about hyperhidrosis until you no longer need to worry about it. It is the best decision I have made to go through with MiraDry.
Hey readers. I looked into some treatments for my acne scars, that I have had since high school, this year. I had to grow a beard to hide some of the scars as I felt really bad about them and did everything I could to home remedy (lemon juice/aloe vera) them. That was not enough and only got me so far. When I went for my consultation I had originally planned to get subcision after reading about how it was not as risky as some of the lasers and the fact that it seemed to work good. The doctor recommended I get either Infini or TCA cross for my mostly icepick, some boxcar scarring. I was hesitant to do either treatment at first but I really had no other option. These scars had been bothering me and my well being for too long. I read up on Infini and decided it was the safest option. I had my first treatment at the end of May, and at the time had purchased some Lifeline night recovery serum for post procedure. Let me tell you, I am tough and usually tolerable to pain, but that first treatment hurt because of the ineffective numbing cream they used (later they switched to something more effective). After I left I put ice packs on my face and went home. Very pleased with my first treatment and I was able to go out on the town that night. Also my face looked like it did pre acne days before the minor swelling subsided. Over the course of the next month I took good care of my face, drank lots of water, was liberal with sunscreen, and used that cream I mentioned before I scheduled my second appt. in July. At this time my scars looked roughly 20-30% better (which to me is a huge difference). The second treatment went much more smoothly as they had acquired a new type of numbing cream and I could barely even feel the needles. This treatment must have been more invasive as my face was red for an extra day (2 days total) Two treatments was all I needed for my cheeks and I think it is 40% better than when I started. My temple may need another one but only because it wasn't really focused on during the first treatment. Either way this is a cost effective and safe treatment for mild to a little more than mild acne scars. My face looks so good again I can finally start shaving again. If they have the proper numbing cream then definitely go for it, if they don't then be prepared for pain and you might should look into another location to get the procedure done.
Best decision ever. Carefully interviewed 4 Doctors- and chose Dr. Elizabeth Rostan for liposuction on inner and outer thighs and knees. Easy procedure- I was not sedated- only local anesthetic. This is the reason I chose Dr. Rostan. Every other Dr. wanted to put be under- and too much risk for me. I was awake during the entire process. Afterwards- the entry points felt similar to bee stings. A little uncomfortable- but was able to be up and around the next day- no problem. VERY VERY happy with the outcome. I am rid of the problem areas in my thighs- inner and outer that no amount of running and dieting could help. Back running and feel so good wearing running tights and proud that the flab is gone!!!
Dr. Rostan of Charlotte Skin & Laser was wonderful. She really knows what she's doing, and it's very important to go to a Dermatologist with experience. I went to see Dr. Rostan for under eye injections to fill in the hollowness. She used Restylane, and I saw results right away. I look 10 years younger!
I had Botox for vertical lip lines. 2 weeks later, my hair is significantly thinner. All of the doctors say Botox is not be the reason for hair loss. It is now reported as a side effect. We are not all crazy! I can't post the link here but if you want it, contact me and I will send it to you. I traded one issue for another!
I went to Dr. Rostan for help with my dark sun spots , upper lip wrinkles and a dark vein under my eye that is difficult to cover with makeup. I have tried bleaching over the counter and prescription strength creams but could never really get rid of the spots. I am frequently in the sun and have been negligent with my sunscreen. I want to turn over a new leaf. Dr. Rostan and her cosmetic consultant, Kiersten DeVine , discussed the best options for me. For the vertical upper lip wrinkles, Botox. (I also decided to have some on my forehead and crows feet). I am so glad I did! My lip wrinkles are gone! And my forehead and crow feet are gone! I have told all my girlfriends about it! I have scheduled a Laser treatments for the dark vein and dark sun spots. I feel like I'm in good capable hands with Dr. Rostan and her staff. I will post a review after the procedure.
I suspect there is an element of pigment and I would recommend fractional 1927 to help remove pigment (hard to tell without examining closely).
Botox can be placed in the masseter muscle to weaken the muscle and contour the lower face. Treatment with Botox to the masseter muscle is also ideal for patients who are grinding and clenching their teeth. Over time this can create a very squared lower jaw, contributing to a more masculine appearance and fuller face. Botox will relax and thin the muscle, which would result in thinning of the face. You would also benefit from filler to the upper lateral cheek and temple areas to improve shape.
I prefer to inject Sculptra using a needle, as I feel it does not inject well via cannula. I also prefer to use hyperdiluted Radiesse injected more superficially in the neck, verses Sculptra. This is not to add volume, it is to provide skin tightening, it acts primarily as a biostimulator to address concerns related to skin texture, fine wrinkles, and crepiness.
It is safe to receive Botox injections with Crohn's Disease and Glaucoma. Botox is injected in small targeted doses to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (this occurs by weakening the underlying muscle causing the contraction). When used for aesthetic purposes, Botox is slowly metabolized by the body, making it safe for cosmetic treatment.
I would advise a neuromodulator injection (such as Botox) to the DAO (Depressor Anguli Oris muscle). Neuromodulators block signals from nerves to the muscles and because of this the muscle is unable to contract. This is often subtle when done alone. If combined with a filler, it will have a more dramatic effect. Filler will help restore the loss of volume. The results can be fairly long lasting, typically 9-12 months.
