Hello! Thank you for your question! After any surgical procedure, you should be careful with incisions as well as avoidance of direct UVA and UVB rays in order to lessen the chance for hyperpigmentation of the skin and scars, which can take several months to resolve, if it ever does. Sunblock of 35 or above is recommended regardless. The ability of the affected area to heal has been slowed and you should try to avoid additional swelling to the area. The area will likely be numb for several weeks to months and will be difficult to feel when sunburn is coming on. Typical recommendations include wearing a hat and/or sunblock to the affected area for at least 6-12 weeks following the procedure. It takes up to one year for scars to fully mature. You should also avoid trauma to the area for several months to protect the refinements made during the procedure. Also, avoidance of pools/lakes/jacuzzis/etc for 4-6 weeks is usually recommended to allow adequate healing and protection from stagnant water, that could potentially harbor bacteria. Lifting/exercise restrictions are common for at least 6 weeks. Certainly discuss the postoperative instructions with your surgeon, as thoughts differ among surgeons. Hope that this helps! Best wishes!
You are certainly able to go to the beach and enjoy the water after 2 months. But you do need to make certain that you are protecting the scar and using appropriate UV light protection.
You may go to the beach but NOT sunbathing for at least 4-6 months depending on your type of scar.Sun may cause a permanent dark color on the scar and even on the liposuction areas for 4-6 months post op.Just be mindfulHave a great vacation/Dr. Cardenas
Yes, it should be fine for you to go to the beach 8 weeks after surgery. Make sure that you protect your scars from sunlight. Even if they are covered by clothing still use sunscreen on them as the sun's rays can penetrate clothing.
You should be perfectly fine to go to the beach after eight weeks, but as always, best to check with your surgeon. It is important to avoid sun exposure over new scars as they are very sensitive to uv radiation at this point in your healing. Your scars might become very pigmented with this exposure, so make sure that you cover up! If there are any areas in your incision that are still open or healing, you should avoid swimming, though.
Going to the beach 8weeks after a tummy tuck is more than likely safe but you must avoid sun exposure. I have my patients avoid any sun exposure to incisions for 6-12 months to avoid worsening scars. If you will be in the sun the wear protective clothing and sunblock. I wish you well. Gaurav Bharti
It usually takes 2-4 days to be able to stand up fully after a tummy tuck. You me bend over at any time after a tummy tuck as this is primarily managed by the muscles in your back.
Thanks for the question. After a tummy tuck surgery you can take a shower after 3 days. I wish you all the best.
I perform surgery at an outpatient surgery center. Most patients are usually discharged home, preferably with a nurse for one day. It is the rare patient who, for a variety of reasons, may benefit from additional monitoring ( as an overnight stay or as an inpatient). Regardless, when...
