During your consultation appointment- it is recommended to bring your bikini-- and if you are a candidate - the options will be discussed then. Every patient is different- what works for one- might not work for another.
The tummy tuck scar can be placed low and within the confines of a bikini. Find a plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of tummy tuck procedures each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA
Thanks for the question. While the goal is ultimately towear a bikini, the amount of skin that will be removed will determine the scarshape and position. It may be possible to wear a "string bikini," butI tell patients that it is not likely. Unfortunately, the trade-off for theflat stomach is the scar. Be sure to discuss your concerns with your surgeon.Good luck.
The position of the scar from a full tummy tuck depends most on the amount of skin laxity or excess above the belly button. A full ttuck removes all the skin between the belly button including the old button hole, and the pubic area. If there is not a lot of loose skin the scar needs to be positioned higher than might be covered with a string bikini. During a consultation if you bring the bikini the surgeon can tell you if this is a reasonable expectation.
I would definitely have that discussion with your plastic surgeon. When I do my preoperative markings I usually have the patient wear their most revealing underwear so when marking I can try and camouflage the scar. If you are having a mini tummy tuck it may be possible, but if you are have a full tummy tuck it may difficult laterally. Best of luck.
Thank you for the question. This is the target to all Plastic Surgeons out there, a low scar that could be hidden with the bikini. To best help you, please send in some pictures consisting of a front, back, left and right side view of your body as well as your height and weight in order to determine which procedure would be best for your case and tat way give you my best review.Good luck,Dr. Campos
It is definitely possible to keep the scar low enough to be hidden by a bikini. You can check pricing and pre/postop photos for this procedure searching the web
Usually the tummy tuck scar can be placed low enough to be covered by a bathing suit, including a bikini bottom. Whether or not the scar will be totally hidden under a string bikini depends on your anatomy, extent of the procedure, length of the scar, and the size of the bathing suit bottom. With a full tummy tuck there is a scar around the belly button which generally blends in well with time and obviously would not be covered by a bikini.Following the advice from a surgeon onthis or any other website who proposes to tell you exactly what to do without having photos and without examining you, physically feeling thetissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, anddiscussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in yourbest interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon with extensive nasalsurgery experience who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeryand ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery(ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person.Robert Singer, MD FACSLa Jolla, California
Your tummy tuck scar can be placed low enough to wear a bikini but if you need a full tummy tuck, the scar will likely be from hip to hip. Whether or not the scar will be hidden under your bikini line really depends on your anatomy and the bikini. For my patients, I have them bring an underwear or bikini bottom with them to consultation and the day of surgery as a guide for my incision placement. If you look at my before and after photos you will see that the scar is easily hidden under the underwear. Also - look at your doctor's before and after's of their belly buttons. I believe this is one of the most important parts of tummy tuck surgery because the belly button is what's visible in a bikini. I think the nicest shape is a natural oval with a little dip above it.I always take the time to explain the details of the surgery, the scars and what to expect after tummy tuck surgery to help my patients plan their recovery and understand where the scars will be since communication is of utmost importance. I'd make sure to express your specific desires and concerns when you go in for your consultation.
A tummy tuck should not cause a prolonged period. However, if you were given an antibiotic this may have changed your vaginal flora and triggered a yeast infection. Check with your gynecologist for their recommendation. Best wishes.
The wrinkles and bulges of your scar will smooth and flatten, this is not uncommon to see in some scars initially following surgery. your scar will likely change over the next several months to a year. there are various topical creams/moisturizers, silicone tapes, and massage that...
