33 year old female who has always been relatively fit &active. Despite my efforts with a clean nutrition style& regular exercise,, my thighs have always shown some amount of cellulite & held on to fat more than other areas. My skin on the inner thighs has become thinner since I lost weight from 173lbs down to 153 lbs over 3 years. Weightloss hasn't helped the look of my skin.Im about to have a lipo revision done on inner thighs&knees. Is this a bad idea?Would I need a lift?

Answer: Thigh lifts I answered your previous post so please refer to that one for the mainstay of the response. They left typically don’t work as well as people and hope for and it turns out not to be that popular of a procedure both from patients or plastic surgeons perspective. It can definitely help but it comes with drawbacks including scars and potential healing difficulties. Tuck procedures or removing excess skin laxicity surgically works well in some parts of the body. The abdomen is a perfect example with a tummy tuck as is a facelift. Unfortunately the thigh is not as easy but that is not to say that they left are wrong but cannot be helpful. I generally reserve the procedure whether doing it myself or referring to someone else for patients who have lost a significant amount of weight and have significant skin laxity. Based on your pictures I’m not convinced that you have enough skin laxity to justify the procedure but it’s definitely worthwhile looking into if your inner thighs bother you. The truth is we simply don’t have good procedures for women who have flabby thighs. In your case I think your thighs look fine and I would probably recommend considering cutting bait and stopping where you are now. It’s not wrong to have a revision and it’s not wrong to have a thigh lift. Both procedures can deliver good outcomes. The key is to find the right provider who will guide you correctly and deliver desirable results if indicated. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
